Are they issued all of the same ones that USNA mids wear? (http://www.usna.com/parents/michigan/uniforms.htm) Such as the FDBs, WWBs, Mess Dress Blues/Whites?

I have checked around and haven't found anything, but I am just a little curious.

It doesn't matter that much to me which ones are issued, hell, if all they gave us were t-shirts I would be fine with it, but I am just curious.

Marine-option son was issued Navy khakis, dress whites, dress blues, and the old-style Marine camo. He purchased Marine digital desert camo. He was also issued combat boots and dress shoes. I think he got some t-shirts and shorts as well.

Alright, but would you happen to know what regular Naval ROTC uniforms are issued?

I read something on OSU's site and it said:

Summer White
Full Dress White
Service Dress Blue
Service Dress White
Service Khaki
Winter Blue
Working Khaki

Is this true for all schools? Because whenever I look at pictures, I only see the SDBs

My son got Woodland Cammies and Summer Whites for O Week, kept those and wore Summer Whites, Service Dress Blues and Working Khakis for during the school year, then for CORTRAMID got coveralls and Navy Working Uniform (aquaflage).

Semperfi,

When does your son wear the digital cammies? It was my undertsnading that they could only wear the new Marine Corps Camo after they went to OCS.

He was able to wear digital camo to his naval science classes; at the discretion of the commanding officer, the MOs were allowed to wear them rather than Navy khakis. He's transferring to a different school for the fall, and may have to wear khakis - not sure.

From Wikipedia, "NROTC students are generally issued several types of uniforms, all for them to keep. The standard issue uniform is the poly/wool khaki, while Summer Whites and Service Dress Blues are often seen on college campuses. Midshipman wear a garrison cover with a fouled anchor for the Khakis, and a combination cover with a fouled anchor and a gold strap with the Whites and SDBs. Also newly issued to Midshipmen are the Navy's new Navy Working Uniform. Midshipmen are also issued the Navy's old Green Woodland Camouflage Uniform, which is being phased out. Finally, Midshipmen are issued coveralls for preparation for their cruise, as well as an "N" ballcap and steel toed boots. Recently Midshipmen have been issued the new Navy Working Uniform (NWU) or Marine Pattern (MARPAT) camouflage uniforms for summer training, not for general wear on campus."

My son received the same uniforms as Centhea's and, prior to CORTRAMID, also received the new woodland digi camo. He had to buy his desert camo last year.

Thanks guys.

How about at the Military Institutes like Norwich, Citadel, or VMI? Do they wear the Corps of Cadets uniforms or standard NROTC stuff.

My son has completed his RAT year at VMI as a NROTC 4yr scholarship cadet - so can tell you that at least at VMI ALL CADETS wear VMI uniforms (both summer and winter issue, dress, etc). VMI is/was patterned after Army. As for his Navy uniforms, he had some issued in fall with green sea bag -which at VMI had an exact place within the room and his cabinet to sit. The rest issued in early new year (I think after breakout) - used the navy uniforms for training exercise days and then this summer in Norfolk. My son also commented on cammies - said he didnt have the new color ones- wouldnt get those until commissioned (or something like that).
I would guess that at least the Citadel has their own uniforms and theother school might as well - since we have lived thru VMI I do know what last years' class got - good luck

NROTC Uniforms

I am currently a midshipman at Penn State University and I was issued the khaki uniform (pants, shirt, belt, cover), black socks, Bates shoes, pumps (because I'm female), 2 PT shorts, 2 NAVY PT shirts, 1 PSU NROTC PT shirt, Service Dress Blue uniform(coat, white shirt, pants, neck tab, collar devices), combo cover, black gloves, black beanie, Eisenhower jacket, and all weather trench coat.
I am a Navy option so we do not get issued the camis but the Marine options do get the old Woodland camis, green shirts, and boots. Being I go to a school more north we are not issued the summer whites but if you are on scholarship then you will get issued those as well as the blue digis and a few other uniforms when you go on summer cruises.

What they do not issue that you need to buy is white undershirts and a black bag if you wish to carry your books while in uniform, and obviously lots and lots of shoe polish.
Hope this helps!

So do you have to return the Summer Whites when you're done with summer cruises?

My son's unit issued whites at the beginning of freshman year and they keep them all the way through.
