What will you do after?

Hopefully, I can branch into Armor and make a career out of it.

But who knows? You never know where life will take you. :thumb:

No problem 2012,

but if what you truely want is to kick down doors and do all that cool high speed ops stuff, look into enlisting as an 11B- Option 40. Straight into a ranger battalion. Hard road, but it'll get you where you want fast.

But if you want to be a leader of character with the highest morals who gradutated from the greatest educational institution in the world? Try and get into West Point.

Really think about what your wanting to get yourself into, god knows I had to!

Good luck.

Or 18X

You gotta be 21 to do 18X lol I just had a buddy who wanted to!

Never did such a thing, just stated a fact about life here some people might be interested in knowing. Keep it to yourself does not equal give up a dream, it means don't go around blatantly telling everyone. It was a fair warning to be taken by the reader as they pleased. I am quite sure you will make the excellent special forces soldier one day and you know all you need to know to get there. Thanks for the life lesson.

BeatNavy,

A little exaggerated, but that's the idea. lol :thumb:

AF, should I remove my post then from the board? I would rather not have that kind of special attention from the cadre, because I was simply posting a pipe dream that's probably not going to happen. I guess my question is, am I kinda putting that image forth?

who cares if you get hazed by the cadre? If you truley have the mindset of a special forces operator, it shouldnt bother you. I think you can tell people about your dream as long as you arent cocky or arrogant about it.

as for me, im thinking about going to med school after west point.

No it's fine. What I suggest avoiding is when you are asked what you want to do in the army try not to elaborate too much and just say the branch. It is perfectly okay to have your dreams, not matter what they will be so don't think it's just a "pipe dream that will never happen". Confidence is key in getting where you want to be and if that is truly what you want, keep that dream internalized and use it to motivate you to get there. As for Beast, it will depend on your Cadre and Squad. Some will not care, some will think it's "brutal" (you will learn more about that word once you are here). Basically, like laxfan said, don't be arrogant or cocky and you'll be fine. So stick to your dreams. If worst comes to worst, a little attention won't kill you and if you want to be an SF operator, might as well start training to handle stuff like that now.

The reason I warned about that was the Class of 2014 facebook group that was discovered a few months ago had a lot of what the people said there quoted and made fun of via email. Everyone thought the guys saying that was hilarious and there's a couple of them who will be remembered. I don't know how Beast will be this year but I do know there will be changes (since class of 2014 is so large).

So good luck! :thumb:

If cadre want to PT me for this, then that's their problem.

No, 2012 Cadet . . . it will be your problem, and your squad's problem. America's Finest is trying to do you and all the other "pre-plebes" a favor -- don't look a gift horse in the mouth. The rise of social networking sites has given a lot of ammunition, shall we say, to each year's cadre. Be careful what you write, and show up on R-Day with a good attitude (mouth shut, ready to learn) and nobody can or will interfere with what you think and dream.

If PTs a problem for me and my squad, then why would I bother even trying to think about becoming an "operator". It'll be their problem because they will waste their breath PTing me for such a reason as just saying want you want to do and it will not phase me at all....just saying.

Take it from someone who's spent a day or two in that community: it's called "selection" for a reason. Your attitude counts as much as anything. I would encourage you to pursue growth in the humility department. There are many men from each SFAS who finish but are not selected. Think about that, and you'll be better for it.

There was a Discovery channel documentary called "Two Weeks in Hell" about special forces. Even though some people made it to the end of the selection, a handful of people were still not chosen, even though they made it to the end.

PT is not designed to be punishment or busy work or anything of the sort. It may not be fun but it is neccessary.

And in my opinion if you guys have dreams or ambitions, don't be afraid to say it. It is your dream that you want and no one can change that. So what if you have to do extra push-ups? That's not going to stand in the way of a dream.

I think what AF was trying to convey is that we shouldn't roll in there and state to the cadre that we are going to be America's next super secret/ cool super soldier spies with testosterone for blood due to the fact that they will test this theory with massive amounts of PT. Personally, i think it is some good adive and I for one will take it

Scout has not only gone through the 4 years experience but also has about 6 in the "real army". I wouldn't take his advice lightly. Hopefully a few more years in high school will be enough for you to see what is wrong with your current attitude. This is the exact attitude I was warning against. It is also the attitude that they will break to teach you about humility and to consider the effects your actions will have on not only yourself but your unit.

Don't worry chewy, some people learn better through experience. They will soon find out the hard way what I warned them about. I truly wish for them to display their real attitude during Beast so they can be developed accordingly.

People tend to underestimate the cadre. One good smoke session will quickly change their minds from thinking PT is all easy. You think a few push ups won't hurt you? No problem, they will make your whole company do push ups for your cocky attitude causing you to commit social suicide. We'll see how easy everything is once all your peers resent you.

At track practice, our captain makes our conditioning tougher and longer depending on if we talk way too much. It's usually one specific corner that never shuts up but our captain makes the entire team do further conditioning. That corner group has that attitude of self-elevation and that they're better than everyone. Everyone dislikes that specific group, since they don't understand that they're the root of the problem and bring unneccessary work for everyone.

I'm not saying that any of you are like these guys, but everyone PTs together, even if one person messes up.

Really...somethings wrong with my attitude...oh, boy, that's rich, I swear. Look, I was stating my attitude as being that one PTing me for stating my goals will not phase me and it is a waste of their time and breath. If that's wrong, shame on me and anyone else who hasn't let PT bother them or make them quit. I'm not saying I will be smug and say "I don't care" and make others do PT because of me, only that I won't care if cadre PT me because they hear my goal or the like. I may not show it, out of respect, but that's what I'll feel. One should be able to push through PT, and not have it phase their mindset or will to be where they are. That's how you get through training and never quit. AF, you may think your something and know what'll happen to me, but you don't. THAT is a bad attitude to have and reflects poorly on you yourself.

It is good you have goals, and you should not let anyone deter you from them, but that last comment to AF was uncalled for. He is simply trying to provide you with advise to make you more successful. You can take or leave his advise, but there is no reason to show him disrespect. He is very helpful to many here on SAF.

Son, you have the makings of a real fine non-appointee with that chip on your shoulder. It's hard not to laugh when a high school student is giving lectures to cadets and graduates on how to "get through training."

Hold what ya got, airborne. That opening shock is gonna hurt.

Hey America's Finest:

sorry to kind of vear of subject, but what is in an average day of PT?

Hate to join in the flame war, but 2012, AF and scout are seriously trying to help all of us. I mean you can say whatever you want man, but at least for me, in 60 days im there, and I am not going (well knowing my big mouth I probably will on accident :yllol:) to pull something knowingly that gets myself and my buddies smoked. At least from my understanding a soldier is supposed to look out for the guys next to him. So come on at lest be civil to AF, hes just trying to help us out and make going through what he did a little bit easier.
