My DD just received the Falcon Scholar offer from USAFA.
What's the difference between Prep school and Falcon Scholar?
What's the pro and cons when re-apply USAFA?
Thank you.

Prep School is the USAFA Prep school on the grounds of USAFA. Successful completion of either program is a big step up, but no guarantee, that an applicant will be admitted to USAFA after completion of either.

You can’t exchange a Falcon Scholarship for an AF Prep slot. You could give up an AF Prep slot and apply to the other prep schools as a free agent, but I can’t think of a compelling reason to do that.

There’s not really a point to weigh pros and cons in my opinion. I recommend taking whatever is offered.

I cannot speak to the prep school but my DD received a Falcon Scholar last year and now has received her appointment to USAFA for 2024. I believe every one of Falcon Scholars at her school have received their appointments to USAFA for 2024. Many have said and I agree that the Falcon Scholar is the golden ticket into the next year class. As a Falcon Scholar your application stays open, so there are some things you don't have to do again, such as the medical as long as nothing changes. The school my daughter went to also provided all of the letters of recommendations. In general the extra years gives the Falcon Scholar a year to mature, improve their study skills and just become more rounded. She had a Type 1 ROTC scholarhsip to Navy and a Type 2 ROTC scholarship to Air Force but her dream was to attend the Air Force Academy. She is very excited and proud to be part of the USAFA class of 2024.

Congratulations! That is incredible news and an incredible step towards USAFA. If you don't mind me asking, what were her stats (SAT/ACT, GPA)? I am still waiting to hear back, and I'm anxious for my decision.

Her scores are SAT 1380, ACT 30, GPA 3.8 and 3Q Varsity captain.
She is still waiting for the answer from West Point.
I guess there are too much competition in this region.
What if she get appointment later from West Point after she accept the Falcon scholar, is it possible to go to West Point?
USAFA says there's time limit and she need to answer asap before 4/15.
But USMA says she need to wait until 5/1.
Hope we all hear the good news soon.
Thank you!
