Trying to figure out when our SON will be reporting to MIT NROTC if he goes there, coming Fall. We are assuming NROTC students report earlier (few weeks) than other students.

You best guess or experience based info will be much appreciated. Thank you. KAZI

I don't know specifically about MIT, but generally it's 5-7 days before freshman would normally report to school or move into the dorms. DS reported for NROTC orientation on a Monday and dorms opened up on Saturday. Fortunately he was able to move into the dorm on Friday night and even better we were able to beat the mass crowds on Sat.

Isn't MIT's with Harvard, Tufts?

They might not muster until fall break. ;) jk

I plead ignorance ... again. Still.

MIT is part of the Boston NROTC Consortium (MIT, Harvard, Tufts, BU, BC, and Northeastern). Typically, incoming mids from all six schools report to BU (which is across the river from MIT) on the Sunday morning two weeks before the start of classes at BU - which would be August 18th this year. There is a swearing-in ceremony, and then the mids depart for the Newport Naval Base (Rhode Island) for a week of indoctrination (INDOC). Upon their return, they move into their dorms and spend the following week participating in the regular new student orientation activities at their respective schools.
