I was just snooping around my app tonight and was wondering when most people hear back from the academy. I saw the acceptance thread and it seemed like a lot of people were already admitted. Also, I was thinking, for those that have been admitted. Would you mind telling me what your application looked like?

According to the USAFA website, most offers of appointment are made between February and April. Also according to the USAFA website, most applicants will know their status by April. No one on this forum can be more definitive than USAFA itself.

If you want to know stats for those who’ve received offer of appointment, the most accurate source is (again) the USAFA website. Look up the class profile for Class of 2024. It’ll show key stats such as SAT/ACT and types of activities participated in and positions held. Casting a net for that info here will give you a non-representative sample because only a small percentage of applicants and appointees post here.

Makes sense, It just didn't have that much information on their release. One other question I have, in my portal. It says Candidate*. What does the asterisk mean? Is my file going to be viewed yet?

Some come as early as fall but most come in waves from February - April. Some have even been appointed within weeks of I-day. Until the thin white envelope arrives, it’s not over! Our son received his appointment in late January right after his nomination came in. He received an LOA at the end of November.

Yeah man don't worry about it, it's only January and like it was said before, the bulk come out later in the year - I got mine in March

I had my whole app complete 10/27, LOA 11/04, appointment 01/05. Hope this helps

If your application is "completed but medically disqualified" do they still view it? I tried emailing the Dodmerb guy but I haven't gotten response yet. Just want to make sure I'm done for now.

They will review if you are medically disqualified in order to see if you are cooperative for an appointment. If you are, they will begin processing a medical waiver. You’re medical qualification has not impact on the review of your file. I’m in the same spot as you, just patiently(ish) waiting for them to request a waiver

After a very, very long medical process, I heard back around April 8th last year. I think this date was about 2-3 weeks before the supposed cutoff for admissions.

Nice to know there are others in the same boat. I'm just kind of antsy. It's honestly why I'm on this site.

My DD received her acceptance letter to the Prep school in April last year. Waiting is the hardest part, or at least it was for our family. My friendly advice; try to maintain a positive attitude while waiting. Think of "Positive What Ifs".
Good Luck!!

Thanks! I'm just super excited to be a part of this process and hopefully a part of USAFA.

Where did your DD attend Prep school?

Side note; there is a good chance that those who attend USAFA Prep School (AKA Preppies) will get into USAFA and become part of the class of 2024. But, they ALL still have to submit another application. Which means going through the entire process again (nomination, CFA, etc.)
On the bright side, my DD is extremely grateful that she has been attending the Prep School. This experience has prepared her more than anything else to be a Cadet at USAFA.
