When does USAFA start announcing those who have been accepted?

Hello all,

I am aware that USAFA goes by the "rolling" selection system, so I was wondering when do they start announcing the people who have been accepted? And in order to be considered for admission in the early phase, when would your application need to be completed by?

And I'm pretty sure that what I am asking here is different from a LOA, which generally is given to recruited athletes and students with hooks (to my knowledge.) Throughout this forum, I see plenty of threads saying that applicants for C/O '21 have already finished their applications.. And I was like: "how...?" Am I behind if I am still working on revising my essays??

Thank you!

Well,Aspiring, you can rest assured, you'll not likely receive an appointment in August. :)

Ok, check with your MOC, and make sure you are fully aware of his/her dates. It would not be too unusual for others to have their packages fairly well along at this point, and if not started, you should begin NOW.

I always suggest aspirants get a large write-in-it date book, and maybe print out monthly calendar sheets to put on your wall, and maybe one for your parents too. That way, everyone is aware of ALL deadlines (remember: they are deadlines, usually not fungible). Time management: the fencersmother's favorite skill.

The earliest I've seen an appointment for a "normal human being" (not a Division 1 athlete still in high school, almost ready for the NBA, NHL, NFL, etc.) was in early November. The latest I remember was a classmate of mine who got the call less than a week before we reported!

To piggyback on Flieger.

In order to get an "Appointment", you have to have the application 100% complete; pass your DODMRB medical; pass you CFA.............READY............ AND Have a Nomination.

Now; except for MILITARY RELATED nominations; such as Presidential, MOH, ROTC, etc. normal Nominations are given out by your representative or senator. And NONE of them are really going to give out a nomination until they've interviewed all the applicants, and they've set a deadline for that. For MOST, it's usually in November.

So, forgetting everything else, you can't get an appointment without a nomination, and for MOST applicants, you can't get a nomination until at least november. "Most". Like Flieger said, the earliest appointments given out was early November. My son got one the last day or two of October, but didn't receive the actual appointment in hand, until the first few days of November. And his came because he one of thos Military Nominations I mentioned. Our state representative and senators hadn't even interviewed yet. If he had to wait for them, then chances are, he wouldn't have received an appointment until closer to mid/late December.

Agree with Christcorp. I wanted to add that MOC nomination slates have a Jan. 31 deadline and many wait until then to submit their slate of nominees. Until that is done, the academy doesn't know you have a congressional nomination and cannot make an appointment. While some folks will get an appointment in Nov or December, most folks don't hear until later in Feb and Mar. Deep Breaths. Be patient.

Current 4C here:

You'll never know when you find out. I know of someone getting theirs in September and all she had to do was get the nomination. I got mine on March 17th, 2016 which was the day I visited Navy. Just hope the ride is smooth. Good luck.

Strakerak. Just to clarify. When you say you knew someone who got theirs in September and all she had to do was get the nomination. Based on what you say, she didn't have an appointment. She had an LOA. To get the appointment, she had to HAVE a nomination. Now, if she had a presidential or other military related nomination, then yes, she could have received the appointment in September. But unless you clarify "all she had to do was get the nomination", meaning she hadn't gotten it yet, then she DIDN'T get an appointment in September. She got an LOA. Just clarifying.

So in re-applying to AFA when do documents me to in for early acceptance?

Sorry didn't even notice that voice text failed tell I read your post.

It doesn't matter anyway I found the answer. [emoji4]

Aspiring, you dissed a MODERATOR?

I'm gonna sit a little further away from you so I don't get struck by lightning.

(And before you get all in-my-face, I'm just teasing you.)

Maybe TheAspiringWon should be the moderator, a bit nicer to this elderly mom, (69) who admittedly sent a voice text while driving and so didn't check before sending. Anyway it was embarrassing, wish I knew how to delete it. Have loved this forum since I have joined. No slam on you kinnem. ;)

katwswim, don't be embarrassed! It happens to many of us (I do hesitate to say "most" because some here have really got a handle on their tech-skills, fencersmother not being one of them).

So, with that in mind, my long-member advice is: don't be offended, then you won't be offended. I didn't understand the question either, and I am sure kinnem just wanted to know exactly what was being asked.

And I do truly pray that no one with 18 posts will ever be a moderator here. Chaos city!

Oh I'm not offended, just a tad embarrassed! And was never upset with the moderator.
Did appreciate that person sticking up for me.

Hey, look at the bright side. I'm the biggest mouth on this forum with pretty much "NO FILTER" at all. And I didn't say anything. Hee Hee.

The first thing you learn on this forum is; everyone is here ultimately to help those interested in the academy/rotc/prep/etc. Nothing said here is ever personal. Most times, any response that seems or is taken personal, is usually because it is WRITTEN, and as such, difficult to express inflection, body language, humor, snickering, etc. In other words, there's a 99.9983848722183838828457572781% chance that it really wasn't personal. It was just not received/transmitted as intended.

Back to the original question, last year the offers of appointment started to flow in mid to late January. There were not many before that. I don't know about LOAs. They are magical and follow no pattern lol
