I have received an invite for an overnight visit. I visited USMA and did the Cadet for a Day program last fall. Is this Overnight intended to be done BEFORE an appointment or can I do it AFTER I get hopefully get one? Appreciate any advice!

My son did his overnight after appointment. As I recall, there were about 7 other candidates present at the time with a mix of pre-appointment and post-appointment.

Go when it is best for you.

I was searching for this exact information this morning. My son received the LOE a few weeks ago but has been so busy with nominations, college and ROTC apps, school, sport, and ECs that the thought of a weekend away this fall seems impossible. He was at SLE and had visited for different things before that. He was hoping to try and fit a visit in after Thanksgiving but is not sure of EC schedule this far out. I will let him know that it is OK to wait until after an appointment if he is fortunate enough.

You can do whenever. I did mine pre-appointment and it was great.

I recommend coming on a Thursday so you’re there for Thursday evening dinner. Some extra festivities in store.

I’d recommend scheduling this asap to an LOE “winner” like the OP. I recall how difficult the visit is to schedule in the fall. But it gives the CC a chance to see WP in way that is more realistic than SLE. Also, your son will have a chance to meet with his RC and perhaps turn the LOE to an LOA even though this is probably rare. Your son may gain other ideas to make his application look stronger.
