When to schedule BGO interview?

I'm just curious how long I should wait until scheduling a BGO interview. I am currently a junior in high school and I was honored enough to be an "accepted candidate." I'm lost on when I should have the interview :(

Usually the BGO interview is the last thing to do for your application. Email your BGO and introduce yourself, be polite. If they do not schedule an interview by the time you have completed your application, then email them and ask about when you could schedule it. BGO's are people too and a main part of their job is to help you through the process, dont be intimidated. Good Luck!

It is not a big hurry right now. Some BGOs prefer you to have about 50% of your application complete before they meet with you.
Some are ready any time you are. They all have their own style, so I say go with the flow. Remember that in the summer, they may go on vacation too.
If they don't call you or Email back right away, it's because they have lives too. They also are BGOs to more than just you.
Sometimes they are assigned to the students of several schools, because there's no way of knowing from year to year how many will apply to USNA.
My DS was the only Academy candidate in his school District (two different High schools with a student population of around 1,200 Seniors) and his BGO was the contact for six other schools.

Sometimes they wait until you are well through the process/ application before interviewing you. My DS was not interviewed until mid August. It was a 4 hour interview in our home. Be patient. This is a long process and lots of waiting. Currently my DS is still waitlisted for 2022. Our journey began in November of 2017.

I know this is silly but what does DS stand for? I see it thrown around every now and then

DS stands for dear son. I'm not sure how much time it actually saves to type DS instead of just "son" considering it just confuses newcomers, but I digress. :p

The BGO here required that my son complete EVERYTHING before he would do the interview!

The textbook answer is that the BGO interview is "late" if the package is 100% complete without an interview, but that is really the metric for measuring the BGO's, not the candidate. (In other words, if your BGO is non-responsive, it will not be held against you).

I ask that my candidates be "substantially complete" prior to scheduling the interview -- that is a purposely vague standard, as I want to see that the candidate is going to get the application completed.. As indicated above, you should reach out to your BGO, introduce yourself, and ask him/her what their process is.

I would expect that most BGO's will be reaching out to the candidate's in the next few weeks .. we just received the Candidate information as well.

While most of the acronyms on that list are pretty specific to the military world, many are standard in the world of college admissions. DD, DS, TWE, BFE and more can be found a lot of other places as well. Agreed that you're trading one letter typed for the addition of the shift key and a spoonful of confusion, but that's the internet.

As @Old Navy BGO states above, the BGO may actually initiate the conversation.
That's what happened with my DS. I answered the phone and it was a retired Navy Captain asking for my son.
Heck - I think even I came to attention - before I turned the phone over to my son! :)

Have no idea what this means since I don't believe the application process for 2023 has yet to open.

It did, yesterday. They received their ECandidate Packet Letters (with Candidate Information System login information and official Candidate numbers). The class of 2023 is off to the races.
