There are so many sides to this....

Some people say it’s months, and some say it’ll only last one more month. I just pray it goes away ASAP🙏🙏🙏

Subside by summer with the threat of returning in the winter, as the Spanish Flu did

A big part of the answer lies in how seriously people are taking it. For example, my county has a 'stay-at-home' mandate. Our Gov did not want to do this, but he is getting disgusted on how lax people are. Even though we are in a 'stay-at-home' status, about 30 of my neighbors had an all-day block party yesterday. Here it was, a Friday, where most of these people should be in school or work. It wasn't a vacation day. But there they were. All 30 of them. Having a great time in the middle of the street...

It'll be a 4-6 week wave, but it's gently rolling so you can't really start the clock until it reaches your town. Some places may not get sucked into this for weeks yet and then it'll take a month to for folks to catch it, notice, treat it and recover.

Is this the party?

AZ just closed schools for remainder of the school year. 💔

Our daughter-in-law teaches in New Mexico and they announced the same thing last week. Now she is trying to put together a plan for teaching science online to 4th and 5th grade kids for the next two months. She will struggle with some of the issues that you have mentioned in past posts with economic and geographic challenges of some of her students. Computer and internet access are not universal.

Yes, we are rural and struggle on that front. Although when surveyed, of the 45 kids I have, only 2 require physical packets as opposed to online learning. Better than I expected. We are now struggling with getting their items to them from their gym and school lockers. They all went home on break, not realizing they would be doing distance learning. Office is scrambling to make new arrangements. I know my kiddo is USNA bound and looking to move forward, but my mom heart is sad. So many memories just literally disappeared before they could happen. I recognize that in the big picture, this is a bump. He isn't spending his senior trip in Iraq, Vietnam or Normandy. But I am sad for all of those who are seeing changes that leave us without milestones we had looked forward to.

were they all 6 feet apart?

JMHO, but people continue to just either ignore or willfully violate "stay-at-home, or safer-at-home" orders on a huge scale. Until individuals take this seriously and separate from others, order things to be delivered (in stead of going to the stores and picking them up), and basically stay safe this will just continue to spread. In NYC, people exposed just left and traveled to other localities (spreading the virus as they went), people kept their travel plans (cruises, and vacations) even though they knew this was coming. We are it seems a country of residents that truly think they can do whatever they want no matter the consequences. I suppose it is the time, this whole "me, me, me generation" that thinks everyone owes them something and they think they are above catching or transmitting this virus. Over the weekend, our local schools have been closed for the school year for three weeks, yet, we saw posted on Facebook a whole soccer team practicing with coaches and parents there at a "closed" local High School. Why do we as a family do everything asked to help, and these other people seem to think it is OK to party and enjoy the time off??? As long as the "parties" and "gatherings" continue we won't see the end of this...JMHO.

I agree with Impulsive. I wish our state had done an essential only order, maybe they will soon. I cannot imagine a coach choosing to practice, that is insane! Our school property is completely shut down. But, for sanity reasons, some coworkers and I had happy hour Saturday night via zoom. Really helped boost our spirits to see each other and chat. Will likely make it a reoccurring event. Stay safe out there my friends, and be kind to one another----from a distance.

And as of 5 pm tomorrow Arizona goes essential only. Turns out auto repair considered essential, not sure if we will stay open or not. May be open but only for cars, no humans in the office. Remote key drop, phone payments only. Lots of sanitizing, although we have been doing that. I can only imagine the run on the stores today and tomorrow now that they have announced it.
