I recently was qualified after the dodmerb process. Not sure what my next step is, when will the scholarship show up in my financial age package

I just played phone tag with the NROTC and Financial Aid offices about this exact question. If your ROTC scholarship has not been reported contact your Freshman (ROTC) Advisor first to see if you're on The List (this was the term used by the admin). If you are on it then you are good to go in terms that it has been reported to Financial Aid- but I would check with FA and get a statement in writing of how it will work in regards to payments. It varies from school to school. If you are not- it is no big deal, just that ROTC HQ has not sent the updated List with your name on it.

I remember making this same call last year to financial aid. When calling, ask to see if there is a person who handles all ROTC cadets. The office should know this, however, if it is a student working the phones, they might not. Then ask that person how it works for that school. We were told, "I usually get a list by the end of the summer." My daughter was a 3 year AD, so not worried about scholarship, worried about room and board waiver from the school for 3 year AD recipients. His response was, "I put a note in her file, after she passes the fitness test we will activate it, there will be no late fees so don't worry." Then I got off the phone and encouraged my daughter to go for a run. Then second semester she was to activate, we ended up still taking out students loans to be sure, once the scholarship payment was processed, they returned the loans. All of these things are questions to ask the financial aid counselor.

Ask the school, remember, you are not the first student they have handled with an ROTC scholarship.

You can call Financial Aid and report that you now have the scholarship and if they will send you a new financial aid package. ROTC will pay the school directly for tuition - you technically will not be receiving the money. As for books, that'll come to you in the form of an allowance.
