When you receive your AROTC letter, post results here

Sticky is an interesting read; answers some questions and gives good advice/insight.

lol....can't post links until I have ten posts on forum...

Nothing personal about the 10 post rule. I think the moderators put that in to suppress spammers who sign up just to advertise their wares. Slows them down a little.

Hail from Lancaster

Son received 3 year scholarship to choice 2 (might have been choice 3). Very excited---we called the University and he can use his merit scholarships for room/board. Someone asked where we live---we live in MD---bet yours comes tomorrow. Congrats to all:rolleyes:

4 year

Son got his letter today. 4 yr to 2nd choice school, 3 yr to 3rd choice, he is a general studies major, languages. Located in FL both to in state schools. 1st choice was private OSS no offer there. Still excited for him and proud of him. I don't know what is posted on portal. Last time we checked it said nothing.

Son received letter today- 4year full tuition to his first choice school, Siena College. We contacted ROO this afternoon and were told that starting this year, room and board will be included by the college!! He will be an accounting major.

Being in California, we figured we would not see the letter until tomorrow or Wednesday, but it arrived today. Go figure.

3 year award

Congrats again to all getting their letters! DSS received his letter today (we are in Cal.). He received 3 year offers to his 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice schools. The web only listed his #1 school. He also received 2 other college acceptance letters today, so he's flying high, but will have some serious decisions to make.

Letter confirmed what the ROO told our son yesterday:

4 yr 1st choice
4 yr 3rd choice
4 yr 7th choice
3 yr 4th choice

Put the enrollment and housing deposits down. Roll Tide!

My son received his letter today for a 3 year offer to his second choice school. Still very excited! It was for Univ. of TN.

He has a 4.0+, 28 ACT, 7 varsity letters in 3 different sports, 1 team captain, class officer, National honor etc.

DD received notice today:

- 4 year to University of Florida (1st choice)
- 3 year to LSU (4th choice)

Website only showed LSU and we were at UF meeting with admissions (Friday they will announce freshman decisions) and they let us know she also was selected for the AROTC scholarship. She also has an NROTC 4 year to UF. Decision time soon as West Point will announce at the end of the month and she has a Coast Guard Academy appointment already......

On December 19, our DS received a Type 7, 4-year scholarship to an in-state school or a Type 2, 3-year out of state. He chose the 3 year and is going to ERAU Prescott.
Mom is learning a lot through all your posts!

I would choose the Coast Guard, but then again I'm biased, being an old Coastie myself. We have to put a good word in whenever we get the chance.

Congratulations to your daughter, if she was appointed to the CGA I can only think she will get good news from West Point, The CGA is a bit pickier, but again I biased.

DD received her letter today from Army CC
3yr. AD Scholarship to Boston College
3yr. AD Scholarship to Univ. of Texas

I received my letter today:

3 year to VMI. Number one choice. Accepted to university.
3 year to San Diego State University. Number Three choice. Accepted to university.

West Point is my number one choice and I am still waiting to hear back from them.

Just wanted to double check & to not confuse others on this forum - but you are referring to AF ROTC scholarship correct? And not an AROTC scholarship?

On the other hand, congrats to your son! ERAU is a very good school!

Congratulations on the scholarship awards. It's odd though that you didn't get a scholarship to your in-state school, but have instead two very expensive private schools among your choices. I suppose this means that Penn State may be extremely competitive even though it is a large unit.
... would have said something had I seen this earlier. But to answer, your question, yes, an AROTC scholarship for PSU is extremely competitive, according to what my interviewer/Deputy PMS at Penn State told me. I do not remember the percentage (fairly low though) - I think it was somewhere around the ball park of only 20%'ish are on scholarship.

... and he either told me a decent chunk (w/ & w/o scholarship) are engineers; or a chunk (on scholarship) are engineers.
