Where are you going to school? major?

Nothing yet from the 2/22 AFROTC scholarship board on this end. The wait for this and AFA is killing me, too. My daughter is handling it much better than me. Hopefully, the next couple of weeks will bring lots of good news to everyone!

Son received NROTC scholarship to Notre Dame
He has been accepted into Notre Dame, Engineering. He is interested in Chemical and Bio-molecular.
Just passed DoDMERB physical after remedial for "enlarged uvula."
Thank God (I mean it) for Larry Mullen and his staff! If you're not familiar with him go to the DoDMERB Forum. He is truly a godsend! (And he has a GREAT sense of humor for a guy who works 24/7.)

Hey Singapore mom, we have like a twilight zone thing going on. I am so pleased for your son going to USNA, major congratulations there. But, don't you live in Texas? We live in Texas (Katy). And, I see your son was accepted at Indiana: I went to Indiana (long story in another thread, I know you read). And both our boys applied to ND. Kind of weird! Any chance you're in the oil business? Always love to see your posts, especially "To My Son!"

My son is going to University of Florida on a ROTC scholarship.

Major: Pre-med/psychiatrist

Go Gators!

I suppose I can post in here now. Assuming all is good with DoDMERB, I plan on going to Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach.

Major in Meteorology.
Minor in Homeland Security.

I thought I'd publically post goaliegirl's acceptance of a 4-year campus-based scholarship to the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire majoring in CJ and playing hockey for the Blugolds. DoDMERB exams have been transferred to our home town and will be scheduled shortly.

Congrats, goaliedad, on your daughter's achievement!

My son was offered a type one, 4 year Air Force Commander's Leadership Scholarship for Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre PA with the school taking care of the room and board. He is still waiting for answers from the AFA and West Point.
Congrats to everyone for all their acheivements!

Hurray! Hurray! That's great news! :thumb:
I've been thinking of you and goaliegirl. :) During the Olympics I wondered if any of our women's hockey players were attending one of goaliegirl's schools.

DS is waiting on USNA or USAFA... just got his eye waiver today for NROTC, so back-up plan to Texas A&M for aerospace engineering is now in place.

Thanks! No, she's playing D3 hockey to keep life more managable (D1 coaches own you, although a few will tolerate ROTC) as part of the plan. All of the women you saw at the Olympics on our team played (or are playing) D1 hockey in college.

That's great that it worked out for her...even though D3 will be alot of work (with ROTC) as well. Props to her!!

My daughter has played field hockey all thru high school and had a few D3 offers but none of the schools had ROTC *and* nursing. In the end, I'm actually glad because I don't want her trying to juggle FH practice, ROTC and a nursing curriculum.

Good luck to your daughter in all her endeavours!! :thumb:

I hear you about juggling too many things. One of the things that makes Eau Claire the best of the schools on the list is that the rink is 3/4 of a mile from the center of campus and all classes are on campus. Other schools on her list had rinks a couple miles from campus and/or classes held at a nearby campus (a couple miles in another direction). And when you have a busy schedule, adding driving to the mix (especially in the snow for an inexperienced snow driver) doesn't add anything to her experience and only makes it more difficult.

I didn't realize they had field hockey out where you live. I am also a CA native and never heard of the game when I was growing up. And goaliegirl had never seen it (except on the web) until she showed up on campus to try out for the varsity team in 9th grade. Managed to make the team and by the end of that season was a starter. I understand field hockey is growing in Oregon (your daughter is going to school there isn't she?) so you never know if it might show up - not that she needs that distraction I understand.

Thanks for the encouragement. By this time next week we'll be joining you in the "waiting" for medical clearance line.

Yes, son accepted to Indiana, had to give up that AROTC scholarship to there, but older son is there now. A hoosier, huh?
