Today I sit here and remember all the things that have happened since this time last year..... Joyce and her dad were heading off to CGA for a week of AIM. I was lost during that week but so proud and excited for her.. and here we are now just about a year later and the first of the new Cadets are reporting in today to USAF.... WOW...

I've made some amazing friends here and gained more knowledge then what I needed (I've stored it in my data banks (lol) I decided to sign up to be a CGA admissions partner, and at the suggestion of the Capt that did my DD's appt I may join the CG Aux.

I just had to post today... what a year it has been with DoDMerb crap up and down and nominations interview, the regular interniew, the paperwork and trips to Kings Point and decisions to be made...

and now it is just about the end of it all.... rewards will be what they have what they have worked for... WOW these kids that get to go to the Academy.. this is their dream.. and they get it... amazing..

and to us parents, I tip my glass to you all for a job well done.....:thumb:

It HAS been a wild ride.....tears of frustration and tears of joy and tears of exhaustion and tears of............. I don't think any one of us would trade it though! Reality has begun to set in. I didn't have anything on my calendar after July 1st so I called some friends and have made a weekly standing lunch date for Wednesdays at noon. I have signed my husband and I up for our Parent's Club activities and we have made arrangements to take our Youth Pastor's kids once a month so that we can still get our parenting-jones on!! :) We have also talked about taking some dance lessons so we can cut a rug at the Joint Services Ball in December!! Just some suggestions.

while we are new to the process and only have the first year under our belt, we have learned a lot. Regardless of you being there for R day or seeing them off at the airport there will not be a dry eye around you for some time. The process of playing "where's Waldo/ Wanda" will take up a large part of your time. Plebe net, Prayer net and the like will be priority email and your library with titles like "Duty First" will grow. I know people get tired hearing about our cadet (it is not posted on the voice mail message) but soon it will consume you. We have seen a change...maturing since A day. Then one day you will get a call and it is in their voice that this is where they are meant to be. So hats off to parents of 2013! Stay close to your parent clubs, Firstie parent mentors and all of these wonderful resources. Most of all welcome to the family. By the way if you ever get the feeling that others don't want to hear about your SA experience this is one family that would be proud to hear about it.

Hugs to you Julie! I know your heart will be bursting with pride when your baby girl takes off on her own. You have given her the tools necessary to succeed. Job well done friend! :thumb:

I will expect a text when the kite string is cut! (to paraphrase our dear SAF friend Luigi....kites strings will be cut, but kites will be visible for viewing from afar. Or something to that effect! )

Hang in there and enjoy the next couple of weeks.
