I'm surprised at the few number of members chatting on the forum. This time last year there were so many hopefuls, parents, cadets, etc. on line sharing information at any given time.
Where is everyone?

Last year, every EA candidate who was not appointed was still "alive" in the process with a deferral to the Regular Admissions period.

No so this year - a very small number were placed on the waiting list, but the majority either were appointed or rejected - both of which end the admissions cycle (and all the questions usually posted here).

Also, EA applicant numbers were significantly lower than in the past.

With the RA deadline coming up in a little over 2 weeks, I would expect a few more questions to start showing up and continuing throughout the RA cycle, and all the way up to R-Day.

Lower EA numbers?

What does this mean for all of those hopeful candidates waiting to hear before this Friday?

This is a surprise because about a month ago a similar question was asked and this was the answer "Objee has posted that there are 10 rounds of applications review, averaging 100-120 apps per round, which would indicate a number a little higher than last year."

Were there fewer applicants for EA or will there be fewer appointees from the EA group?

There were fewer applicants in EA this year compared to last year.

Last year there were 1,017 EA applicants, with 162 appointments.

This year there were significantly fewer EA applicants, and fewer EA appointments as well.

Appointments, or appointment offers? That's a pretty big fraction of the class there.

Thanks Luigi. That explains a lot -- I was really wondering where everybody was!

My DS is a re-applicant and 'hit the submit' button just over a week ago:eek:...So here we go again...let the waiting begin:popcorn1:

By definition, all "appointments" are "appointment offers" until they are are accepted - then they become "accepted appointments" - that's pretty well understood here.

During last year's (2015) EA, they had ~1,000 applicants and awarded 162 appointments (full and conditional), which was 43% of the total appointments given (or "offered" if you like that term better) for 2015 (374 total).

This year, there were fewer. Applicants, and appointments.

I believe the goal is to notify everyone by Friday January 20th.

The CGA web page says this too (Luigi is correct of course):

"If you complete your application by November 1, you will receive our admissions decision no later than January 20. "

In a previous post Objee said that the board met every two weeks on Thursday and Friday and sent out that round's decisions. I assume that the board met last Thurs and Fri and the BFEs and the TWE were either sent then (Fri.) or will be sent tomorrow - enabling the postal service to get them to the applicants by the 20th.
