My son emailed DoDMERB to get his status and they responded that "You have been determined to not meet medical standards for the USNA and will need a waiver. The disqualifications are below;" and they had a list of multiple items like asthma and food allergies (he has outgrown both). My son emailed them back about a week ago to ask them how the waiver process gets started? It sounds like any additional testing gets ordered by the service academies? Where does that show up? His portals for both USNA and USAFA still show DoDMERB not received. His original physical was on Oct. 20th. We would love to get started on any additional testing during winter break but not sure who to contact to get that started.

The request for waiver is initiated by the service academy, not the applicant. If considered a competitive applicant/being considered for appointment, then the SA will notify you that they have requested a review for waiver on your behalf. That is the next communication you should be watching for.
