Later this month DS will be reporting on I-Day and it will be time for my wife and I to land the helicopter. Living on the west coast, we will not have many opportunities each year to travel out to see him so I am wondering what are typically the best places for us to play where is our plebe. Can someone with experience in this game please let me know what the best places to look online for pictures/videos?

Join the USNA alumni association. Part of your membership will include photos. You can get there by going to the USNA website

Monitor all the USNA facebook pages, last year we trolled and found several pictures of our plebe in photos taken on the yard, at home football games, etc., that were posted on facebook. Precious few to be sure, but nice to see. Also, join your local Parent's Club. I'm sure meeting formats are similar - in our club there is time on the agenda for parents to give updates on their mids' whereabouts and plans. This is good information to file away for future reference when your plebe is 3/c, 2/c and 1/c.

I am in the same boat. I already joined the alumni association and have been perusing the pics. I was amazed at how many pics were there from last years plebe summer! Literally thousands of pics were there. They must know how we parents are. Just look for the good looking kid with the crew cut lol

There's also a group that post at http://www.plebesummer.com You can purchase pictures, but they can get a bit pricey for prints; the downloads are typically somewhat reasonable. However, get ready to set aside a fair amount of time Waldo hunting! From all the sources cited above, we probably found around 1,000 to 1,500 pictures every day. You may find a couple of your plebe every day. We probably spent a couple hours most days going through pictures, most of that time spent discussing "is that his elbow", or "I think I see his ear". With the shaved heads and whiteworks, they all look exactly alike. It really helps if they have really unusually colored running shoes, or they get involved in a group like Drum and Bugle Corps. We were lucky and typically could pick out or DS by the electric blue/neon yellow running shoes he had, and being in D & B.

If you are a Washington parent, I have a where's Waldo guide posted on our club's Facebook page.

I see you are AZ in a previous post. Best finds for me among the twenty or so that I list are the USNA lucky bag Facebook page and the USNA Flickr photostream.
