Which service academy is it easiest to cross commission to another branch?

Does anyone know if any service academy is consistently easier to cross commission to another branch?

From what I understand, cross commissioning works 1 for 1, so there has to be someone at the other SA that wants to commission in the branch of your SA for it to work.

Is there an SA where the least amount of people want to go to another SA? Conversely, is there an SA where the most people want to commission in another branch?

Cross-commissioning occurs at graduation time. it happens, though relatively rarely, but cannot be counted on. It can also occurs later in your commissioned career.

It’s not so much there has to be a 1:1 match-up of those desiring to cross-commission; it is the needs of the services that will drive it. We had a USNA sponsor mid very interested in Army. They did an exchange semester at USMA, had senior Army officers there write letters of recommendation attesting to her potential as an Army officer for the application package. No cross-commissions were approved that year. They went Marine air and are very happy.

It’s not a route that can be counted on or predicted.

USMMA has the greatest flexibility there. If you meet standards, you can commission into any of the 6 armed services there.

USMMA provides a huge amount of flexibility.
USMMA is Supposed to allow commisioning into any branch, if you'd rather go military than serve in the Merchant Marine Industry. But, does anyone know if this is always true? Or do the branches have to have a "need" of some sort? I've heard tales of being able to "shop" job options from ea branch? Just wondering how flexible it really is?

From the limited exposure, I've had to this...my "almost a daughter" that graduated from KP (now a navy pilot) orignally wanted to fly AF. She took the AFOQT, had a bad day, and the AF said "Uh, no thanks..." The navy wanted her after she had served on a DDG for 5 months as part of her sea time (the skipper became a sponsor). She liked that idea so she did the application, and the Navy approved it. One of her friends realized she liked sailing but wanted to fly so...she petitioned an army reserve unit...and got a pilot slot, and she found a berth on an MSC ship. Best of both worlds.

There are options re: different services, but what both of these ladies stressed to me was: YOU (the MIDN) have to "bring it" to the table and convince the service you want that THEY want you!! They don't just take anyone and there's no minimum that has to be met by the services.

Options? Yes, but you have to convince them that you're the right choice.
