Who is 'Butch Ferguson'?

I am interested in the lore around 'Butch Ferguson', an alleged midshipman who was separated (or expelled) from USNA but reportedly thereafter lived on The Yard for a year. A cursory internet search makes me believe that this might be a tall tale or some other sort of USNA shenanigan, given the search only results in what looks like a fake FB account and a couple ambiguous Reddit posts. Anyone have any insight?

Two friends and I created a fictional student in high school when we were freshmen. This involved running a program with punch cards. It really was the dark ages back then - but since computers were a new thing - they were easy to hack. We never changed our own grades, so our endeavors went completely unnoticed by the administration. He was listed as a stage hand in the plays that the Arts department put on over the years and he was an equipment manager for both the track and cross country teams, among other less-than-notable achievements. He graduated with our class (he had a 2.4 GPA) and there was a diploma made for him, much to our surprise. Since our hack went unnoticed (one of my friends accepted his diploma in his absence to applause from those "in the know"), a younger fictional brother was created. This brother started as a freshman after we graduated, because one of my friends had a younger brother who was also "good with computers". I don't know if the other fictional student graduated though. That was over 40 years ago and I have never attended a reunion. :)

Butch Ferguson is 100% real. The best compilation of butch stories and lore is actually on one of the instagram meme accounts.

I will find a link later today.
I read that last year and it was amazing….my recollection was it was a story that went on for a while. Maybe foreverfirstIe? Pics and everything. It was great.

"...I met 4C/Steele under the bridge near Hospital Point..."

Wait just a minute. That's water, isn't it? Were they in kayaks?

The Log, the authoritative source for all Bancroft Lore. Page 25.
Now you've done it..... I'm going to have to read it cover to cover...
Haven't seen THE LOG in a long time.
The Log had something of a rocky history back in the day -- it often came very close to the line of being appropriate (in 80's standards, probably well over it now), and I believe it got closed down for a while after I graduated.

@Old Navy BGO The log staff puts out a great product, albeit with a very scattered timeline. I suspect they still deal with the same “suspensions” and temporary bans as when you were here.

I was the O-rep for The Log after one of its many resurrections. We had a good run for 3 years, and I am still in touch with the editors from that time. We had a good working relationship, told them it was my job to support cutting-edge humor in all its forms, but with the advent of the internet and spotlight on USNA, there were things I would howl at and then say “No.” Not long after I left, a few issues into the next O-Rep’s timeframe, The Log was canked again. I keep stacks of old issues downstairs. The sponsor mids enjoy them immensely - some humor is perennial.

Nimitz Library has archived issues.

No it was all @oldgoats. Who BTW were so awesome during last year. Not my guys connected with one! I’m pretty sure that’s who I was thinking of. Sadly those stories are gone.

My USNA Roomate's, friends brother's neighbor heard from her hairdresser that Butch Ferguson is Turd Ferguson's younger brother.

Daughter's roommate jumped off the bridge to Hospital Point into Dorsey Creek on one of their forays as Plebes. Young and Crazy.
