DS portal has a new tab that says "My USMMA rep". Anyone know what this means? There are 2 emails listed. They are not USMMA emails. BTW--DS is sponsored prep.

That's a new one for me. Hoping it's going to be good news, but I've never seen it before.

Same here- DS status changed to qualified not selected. So I will have DS(1) at KP and DS(2) at SUNY Maritime! That should be interesting!!! (BTW- DS2 was a self sponsored prep at NMMI...his college credits earned at NMMI will lighten his load at SUNY)

They can wave at each other!

I would like to see a list of those on this forum who are still in the hunt for an appointment. That way, those of us pulling for you can send good thoughts and prayers your way. Hang tough. More appointments still to be made!
Our son, Coby, is waiting to hear! He is prepared to wait until very end. As a mom I hope they hear soon as those on wait list really want in. Fingers cross for class of 2029 high schoolers on wait list.

DS called Admissions yesterday and was told it was a mistake and should have been Qualified - Not Selected. The person with whom he spoke was beyond rude. Have to say overall compared to our experience with other schools, USMMA was sorely lacking. DS never received a reply to emails or calls from his Admissions Officer and then the final rude send off yesterday was enough to turn him off to the school. Both his aunt and uncle are KP grads so he had always heard great things about the school and their experiences. Happily DS is more than excited about his Plan B NROTC so he will hopefully still end up where he wants to be in the end. Wish all of you and your DDs and DSs great success at KP. We are on a different path.

@cindijtx so sorry for your DS's treatment during this grueling process. We have had a few bad experiences too, though mostly very positive. It would be great if you could contact ADM Buono and give him your feedback. If no one tells him what's going on, he can't fix it. I have found him to be very receptive and responsive. Sorry to hear about the non-select, but I wish your DS all the best for a bright future!

My son got an email on Friday last week saying USMMA filled all the slots for 2024...so we went to Plan B...SUNY Maritime. We were getting excited for that and then got a call today! DS2 got an appointment off the “qualified not selected” NWL group!!!! I am in shock. (Thanks to whoever turned their appointment down!)

I just got off the phone with USMMA - turns out the "Qualified" was supposed to be "Qualified - Not Selected". However, the person I spoke with on the phone was very snappy and in a way talked down to me. But, hoping that I somehow get an appointment.

@tlfrancis289 - sorry for the bad experience with the Admissions office. Sounds like the same person that @cindijtx encountered last week.

I'm sticking to my understanding of the current status situation -- a calendar roll-over event triggered everyone in the HOLD status to now be in a new status called Qualified - Not Selected. In effect, it is telling applicants to move on to plan B, but is effectively a later stage of the NWL. As we saw today with @jw68 's DS#2, they are still drawing from the QNS list, and those in QNS status are very much still in the game. We are playing in the later rounds of musical chairs, but there are still a few chairs remaining.

Just seeing the actions occurring -- I still contend that NWL = HOLD = QNS, but at this later stage of the admissions cycle, they have simply updated the language to more clearly nudge those here on the bubble to get serious about Plan B in the event that there are no seats left on the bus when the music stops on 10 July with the start of indoc.

Great analogy and thank you for the information.

I've dealt with some of the rudest people ever talking to admissions. They even hung up on me once. I can't get a call or an email back either.

So now both DS1 and DS2 going to KP? That is terrific!

Congratulations on your eventual acceptance, and a thought about the rude behavior your DS experienced earlier in the month. (See prior post above.)

I've lived in California now for nearly 40 years but was raised by New Yorkers in New England just outside of NYC. On return trips (and occasional business calls) I am regularly shocked by the apparent rudeness customary with New Yorkers (the metro area, not up state). Usually, however, I find that with some cajoling and kidding, I can get through the thick, flinty skin and find a warm (and usually comic) personality. So a word of advice for your DS (and others from the Heartland not familiar with the NYC way of life), when experiencing New York boorishness, let the initial brusqueness blow by you, and make a greater than usual effort to make a connection. Most of the time you'll be rewarded.

Again, congratulations. And here's to Lone Star State manners!
