I was reading over my instructions for my medical exam and it says to "avoid strenuous exercise two days before your exam"? Not planning to do strenuous exercise, just curious as to why not?

Thank you!

Great question! I figured it was because of a stress test. Lol. I may change my date Now.

My DSs medical appointment was made during State Wrestling Tournament, he wrestled in the morning, had the physical, went back and wrestled again that evening without missing a beat. I actually think the diversion of the medical exam helped him with relaxing enough for the second meet - and yes he won both meets and placed fifth in the state.

Like Larry said above, strenuous exercise before providing urine for a urinalysis could cause proteinuria.

High protein in the urine could indicate kidney disease which is of course disqualifying for military service.

This is exactly what happened with my DS. He retested several weeks later successfully, making sure that he took it easy and stayed hydrated.

yes, hydration is very important for physical exams. Dehydration can affect vital signs, the ECG, skin turgor, and various other things.

Plus, I was answering a medical question and not a DODMERB question.
