Why wouldn't they have said no by now?

DS has a DQ since Feb. No waiver has been requested. Which, from what I have read, means he is not considered competitive for an appointment. So why don't they just say no now? Why the wait?
Is it even possible at this point for him to receive an offer of appointment?

It seems to be hard for him to move on to think about traditional colleges while holding onto the dream of USAFA.

I don't know this to be true, but it seems to me there is an implied "yet" at the end of that "no waiver has been requested". Maybe they're waiting for something to happen on the slate(s) he's on before making a final decision. I would be sure I'm ready to lock down plan B in late April though.

My DS's best friend just had his medical waiver initiated at USMA and USNA yesterday. If they weren't interested at all in your son, then I think he would have already gotten his rejection letter. Doesn't mean he will get in in the end, but I think no TWE means he is still being considered. Believe me, I have asked myself this question many times. My DS applied to all five academies, has not been rejected by any, yet only two of them have initiated and approved his medical waivers (thank goodness they were his 1st and 2nd choice schools). I thought the same thing, why isn't he getting rejected by the other SAs if they aren't initiating a waiver. Some SAs will not even initiate the waiver unless his file has been reviewed and deemed qualified for either the academy or the prep school. It may simply just be that his file has not been looked at yet. In the meantime, solidify his Plan B. I find peace in knowing my DS has a good backup plan and if it happens that he gets into his SA of choice, then we will party like rockstars!
 
Thank you for the replies. Certainly helpful. I will keep positive. And DS is moving forward with planning for Plan B. AFROTC Scholarship helps, and at least AFROTC has initiated a waiver so that is good.

Maybe they prefer saying no when they have filled up all their spaces. Its easier to wait see what happens with the overall picture before they reject someone who looks good but has some medical issue. Who knows
 
My fully qualified DS is still waiting for news from USAFA. I haven't seen anyone post that they received a rejection email. Do any of you know of anyone who has gotten a "no" yet?
 
Although I haven't seen anybody in this forum get a TWE yet, there have been a few who have been offered Falcon Foundation scholarships to attend a prep school and reapply next year.
