Will a nomination call come before posting it on the portals?

My DS received letter from Senator Perdue (Georgia) today with nomination. Hasn't shown up in portal yet. Very nice way to start our Thanksgiving week!
It is nice to know. Now you will be watching the portal to make sure it appears. Lol. One advantage that we have with the way my son found out; no portal watching required. Instead, we are watching portals to see if his new ACT scores appear. Wish we could control how quickly that stuff gets sent and then inputted.

Congratulations on your son's nomination.

Similar story with portal update, but now what to do about that last interview?

DD completed interviews with one senator and congressman; second senator scheduled for next week. Our state senators received 500+ applications from students seeking nominations to SA's; 350 alone for USNA. Just learned today, per USNA portal, that DD received nomination from first senator. However, no word yet formally from that senator.

We assume that DD should wait for some sort of formal notification before contacting second senator? Word on the grapevine is that our state MOC's coordinate nominations to spread the wealth, but have heard two anecdotal stories of students who supposedly got two noms for one SA. Should some type of official notification be forthcoming from nominating senator? DD would need to miss entire day of school and drive 3 hours round trip for interview at second senator. It would be nice if this effort wasn't necessary but we don't want to break any written or unwritten rules about following through with nomination process. Any advice out there?

DD has LOA and is medically qualified, so assuming this nomination is real, she may be seeing light at the end of the tunnel!

First off, congrats to your DD. Agree with the light at the end of the tunnel.

IMHO, she should just go about her business and sit for her interview with second senator. Not sure why you would call that senator and turn down the interview. I am guessing that not everyone who applies gets an interview, so it says something about her package.

If the NOM is on her portal, then it is real.
If USNA is her only choice and she has that NOM plus LOA, then she is golden, but if she applied for a different SA as well, she will need a NOM for that specific SA too.

I am in a similar situation to Ted&Gladys! In my knowledge, my senator usually announces nominations near end of December (due to interview dates varying). However, I saw on my portal today that I received one. I haven't received any news from my senator's office yet. I am hoping for a letter from my senator confirming my nomination (as they instructed before)!

My son got the actual letter in the mail yesterday, saying he received nominations for USMA, USNA and USAFA. Now on to other worries.

It is amazing how stressful and euphoric this process can be for parents who weren't even sure how they felt about their kid wanting to attend a service Academy. Once you buy into it it seems you are ALL into it, and almost like watching him play baseball (please get a hit.....no errors). And then if he is successful, we will suddenly realize, "oh no....he is off now...I just lost my best friend". Mixed feelings big time.
