Will a raise in my SAT scores do anything at this point?

What really led to me not getting in was that my TAC officer did me wrong as well. If you want to hear that story just send me a private message.

Okay so on what terms does a CC need to be with his or her TAC officer for him or her to win appointment? now I am beginning to think that USMAPS isn't the route I should go because apperently if you can't make the "cut" then you're done for and you only have a one shot chance. Is AROTC better?

"apperently" your spell check is not working.....might need to raise that english section a bit...just my two cents....good luck though!

haha use some proper logic next time you are trying grill somebody. If my spell check isn't working then its a technological problem rather than personal (hence an issue with the CPU). That being the case how on earth can I raise my "English section?"...just MY two cents (and coming from a potential West Pointer. Boy, what does that say about you) by the way my "english section" has risen quite well thank you very much and I will prove it on the coming up SATs

He's gonna be one of those Cadets I see lol. But no really I highly suggest that you do prep instead of AROTC because you get the best feel of West Point. Prep school was not terrible. All I'm saying is that in order to make sure you're absolutely going to be a shoe in, be on top of your academic game. Study during study barracks, go to your teachers for help. What West Point really wants to see from a prepster is how well they do academically. Everything else is just a plus. Strive to be the best, do well on your ACT and/or SAT and you will be apart of the first group to get an offer and won't have to worry about being in the position I was in.

Thanks man, is life at USMAPS slightly different than at USMA? or is it very regimented and strict to the point where a CC will have "nothing" to do but feel the need to study? I just don't want to be sidetracked during my time there in the event that I do get offered a spot. Also (silly question) but where would I take my ACT/SAT? does the prep school offer it via collegeboard or ACT? is it free to take? and how often do CCs take those tests?

If you do AROTC just with the purpose of getting into WP, I can almost guarantee you will take a lot of flak especially if you make your intentions obvious. There is also the risk that you might come to like AROTC more than you thought you would and end up staying (I have seen it happen).

Life at USMAPS is VERY much different than life at USMA. From my classmates, they say that USMAPS is like paradise compared to USMA. You get more privileges than those at USMA and you get paid more than a Firstie. You'll have a lot of free time after classes and whatever practice you have with a sports team...and what ever duties you have....unless you have duties all day (which mainly applies to CC leadership). I would just say to use your time wisely. There were quite a few people who used their free time to get a head start on homework before study barracks (which is every Sunday to Thursday night from 1930-2130. Everyone is required to do it during 1st quarter, but then you receive your Academic Category status and depending on what that is you may not be required to do study barracks all those nights). On weekends you get off post privileges and you're pretty much free to do whatever you want until recall formation at 1900 on Sunday. As far as the ACT/SAT you take both of them once: the ACT in Feb and the SAT in March...or January...one of lol. You register at USMAPS and you take both tests at USMAPS. USMAPS has special permissions to do that lol. I want to say that we had to write a check for one of those tests...the SAT I believe. The other was free. No question is a silly question

Can anyone verify this? Why would a prep school cadet get paid more than a Firstie?

I think it's because we were enlisted and were on Active Duty Status. We all (except for prior service) started off as E1 then promoted to E2 later in the year....so maybe the difference is that we were Active Duty and the Cadets are not.

Well Collegeboard has more than one test date as does ACT. Why would USMAPS allow a CC to take the test once? there can definitely be a moment where a CC doesn't do well enough due to varying reasons other than "well he wasn't prepared enough" like me for example, no matter how much I prepare for the SATs my first test is what I like to say the "icebreaker" I tend to do mediocre but once I take the test again I do much better.

Idk why. Maybe it's because of time and money. I mean you can definitely go ahead and register for a test before that at some high school in New York. No one said you couldn't do that.

Does USMA ever look at paper resumes? I sent two (one over the summer and an updated one several months back) do they even consider what one puts down on those resumes?

If it is relevant to your Whole Candidate Score, they probably consider it.

What is in your résumé that is not already in your application file?

The SOEs, interview, RC notes, and optional recommendations supplement your application file.

I never had an interveiw for USMA

The Admissions Office interivew is "optional." If you attend SLE, you get interviewed by your squad leader. Sometimes the RC will ask a field force member to interivew a candidate. Most cases Field Forces members conduct interview at their discretion. All candidates should be interviewed, but not enough active field force members to interview all candidates.

You can contact your local field force member and aske for an interview. My opinion, having a good interview helps.

Yeah, the first time I applied I got interviewed by my squad leader at SLS in 2010 (well, now SLE). It is optional, but I also suggest that you give it a shot.
