Hello I’m applying for USAFA c/o ‘30 later this year and I’m a bit fearful about clearing DoDMERB. After attending summer seminar, I realized the silliness that can get people disqualified/delay their offer of appointment. I am perfectly healthy (to the best of my knowledge), but technically my medical history contains me having 1 episode of tachycardia at 6. When I was younger, I was caught off guard by a fire alarm (as is everybody) and felt my heart beating out off my chest for a couple minutes. A couple days later, the doctor put me on a heart monitor for a day, and the device said I had 1 episode during that day. I was at an outdoors birthday party and was running around, so the device could’ve took my elevated heart rate as an episode. I had multiple perfectly fine echocardiograms in the months and years after, haven’t had any “episodes” since, and thus haven’t been to a cardiologist since I was 8. I’m currently a football and track athlete, and haven’t had any problems with my heart in sports. I know nobody can know for sure, but will this necessitate a waiver? USAFA is my top choice, and I’d hate to potentially lose out for a foolish reason.
