Will it hurt?

I finished my NROTC application in November and I put that I would also be applying to the Naval Academy. Here we are now, my application is done but I have not done a BGO interview, my physical test, or have a congressional nomination for the academy and I am thinking about withdrawing my application all together. Would this somehow hurt me NROTC application as I previously marked that I would apply to the Naval Academy? Would the board somehow know if I decided not to apply. Im at a cross road as I do want to finish the rest of my application but with my test scores, and no congressional nomination, and probably at this point no BGO nomination even if I was to do an interview, I know I will most likely no get in. Should it be worth the hassle or would it not make a difference? any advice/help/insight would be helpful.

a couple threads lately have asked similar question... if you even think you might be re-applying next year to USNA, what would "quitting" this year look like?

The short answer is , no; not completing your USNA application will not affect your NROTC application.

The longer answer is, what I see in your post is rationalizations and justifications for why you shouldn't follow through with pursuing a USNA appointment. If you were my DS/DD, I would tell you that this tells me you are not that motivated/committed to achieving this goal. I would also tell you that if you do not have that burning desire to obtain that appointment, you probably shouldn't pursue this further, because you likely don't have the desire/determination/commitment to see it through when things get hard at USNA. Now, if you do have that burning desire and commitment, follow through and do everything in your power to obtain the items you need to pursue that appointment. But do it because of your commitment to USNA, not how it might affect your NROTC application.

To answer your question - stopping your application to USNA will not impact your chances at any of the upcoming NROTC boards.

Thank you, you're right. I was thinking about this and all of the recommendations that I have gotten, the stuff said about me, and if I stop now, then they didnt mean anything. I need finish what I started.
