Will my CFA scores pass?

Hello everyone,

I just took my CFA for the first time and was down to the wire in doing so as I got the flu and was out of my schedule for a week and took time to regain fitness. Unfortunately that flu really killed me and I am now worried about my CFA scores.

Here is how I scored:

BBall throw: 71 ft
Shuttle Run: 8.83 sec
Pull ups: 6
Sit ups: 92
Push ups: 40
Mile: 7:42

The last 2 were the real killers as I was both fatigued and doing the mile run in a gym.
I know the academy does not post minimums for passing the CFA, but I am worried that all my work on the application thus far could be nullified by a bad mile and push ups score. Before my sickness I could do around 70 push ups and a 6:30 mile, but obviously that has changed drastically for the worse.

If anyone could ease my nervousness it would be much appreciated. I am hoping these two events will not completely knock me out of contention for an appointment, moreover, I hope that they are good enough to at least pass.

Thanks for your time reading this, any input is appreciated.

On their website, they post the averages of the scores, so if you score above on some and below on others, I'm guessing they should even out to average. So I would just look at their website to see how you align with the average scores of last years class. Good luck!!

I passed my CFA and compared to my scores, your first four are MUCH better. Theres no problem there in my opinion. However, my last two scores were 70 push-ups and a 7:11 mile. I feel if you take it again and get that mile to a 7 min and the pushup around 60-70 you'll be super. If you can't take it again I personally think you'll pass, albeit by a small margin.

Are you a female or male? This is important as the required scores for the two are different.

Six pull ups. I think this is a male. I think I have seen mile run times this slow that have passed - some even slower. But I cannot comment on the push-ups.

I have read on other posts that 40 is right around the minimum. I'm disappointed in that score as like I said previously I did better before getting sick, but I might have to live with it now. At this point how will I find out if it is good enough to pass? Will it tell me on my portal or otherwise? Also, if I did happen to fail does that mean my application is null and void?

Read the Instructions to Candidates booklet (available from your portal). It discusses what happens if you fail. You will be notified if you fail the first time, but the failure will be noted by the admissions board. If you fail the second attempt as well, your admissions file will be closed.
