Will the government shutdown affect nominations?

Oh, the predictable outrage.

It's a big world, kids (some of whom are parents). Servant leadership means putting yourself last by choice. It's a mentality you can never learn too early. You eat chow last. You pick the worst spot for your bedroll. You pull the longest hours. The first shall be last is a real thing, in the Army anyway. In the USMC too. Perhaps it's not part of AF culture, but I'm willing to bet it is.

Instead of worry about whose feelings might be hurt on the internet, think about people hurting for real as a result of this mess. Only Lillian knows if her first thought was of herself. If it was, this is a good chance to recage the attitude indicator.
AMEN Scout!

My DODMERB exam just got cancelled due to shutdown. Hopefully it twill be rescheduled in time for my application to be completed.

Shhhhh!

My DODMERB exam just got cancelled due to shutdown. Hopefully it twill be rescheduled in time for my application to be completed.

Careful now, that sounds like you're only concerned about yourself and have little concern for the gabillions of Americans affected by this partial shutdown....

Seriously though, I'm sorry. I hope it is rescheduled in time. My only suggestion (and I'm sure I'll be corrected) is to contact your ALO and let him know about the delay.

First I would like to apologize. I generally handle misunderstandings and such much better. I probably should of waited until I was in a better state of mind to respond.

Also, although it really isn't an excuse, I have been afflicted with a very painful and very severe unprecedented acute infection. I've been under a lot of stress the past few days. Not only am I missing school, but I have many deadlines approaching, I'm trying to fight through extremely intense pain to avoid falling out of shape, and I have a trip to the Academy scheduled through the Diversity Visitation Program coming up this Tuesday. I've spent most of this week either in the doctor's office and trying to sleep on far less than adequate pain meds. The original post wasn't written very well. I'm sorry.

I understand where scoutpilot is coming from. He is right...in some aspects. Not all.

Regarding the question addressed in the original post....It seems the nomination process may be slowed down a bit and interviews may be postponed. However, the government shutdown is affecting other factors of admission much more obviously and directly, eg: delayed DoDMERB exams, delayed ALO interviews, etc. I don't believe there is any discussion regarding changing deadlines. I suppose it is possible.

I should have just emailed my ALO or did the research on my own. I figured this would be more convenient and perhaps more informative.

Thank you to everybody who answered the question. And thank you to everybody who gave me advice. Although it may not seem like it, I take criticism very well. From everything, something can be learned.

If this post is any indication of your character, I fully expect that you will be a cadet in good standing next year. Best of luck.

I hope you are right. Thank you.

It really, sincerely, means a lot to me for you to say that.
