will these issues trigger a remedial?

DC had 3 yes answers - are they likely to trigger a remedial? If so I will get the medical records now.

Issue #1 - a broken wrist 4 years ago - fully healed, no residuals.

Issue #2 - a mild sprain of the Medial Collateral Ligament (knee) a little less than a year ago - wore a brace during athletics for 4 weeks - fully healed, no residuals, no use of brace since.

Issue #3 - hospitalized overnight for a breathing issue when 18 months old. No residual, no recurrence.

I welcome your thoughts!

It is hard to know. We had things that I thought would be significant for DS that weren't, and things I thought insignificant needed remedials. That was our experience! We had gathered info from DR for the things we thought would be needed, and they weren't, and needed to gather stuff for things we thought insignificant! On another note, the process was very easy, and we were surprised at how little investigating the initial exam DR's did. We expected a thorough look. Perhaps it is different depending on the DR? Good luck!!

Don't sweat a remedial[s.] They are merely requests for more details and/or follow up tests.

The DoDMERB exam itself is actually pretty basic; a glorified HS sports physical plus a urine test. They use the remedial process to 'streamline' the exam that every candidate takes and reduce time and cost of all the hundreds/thousands of specialized exams and tests that may or may not be required for an individual candidate.

Most important thing is to get DoDMERB exam ASAP once notified so you leave time for any remedials and especially waivers if required.
Schedule the exam immediately upon availability.

The exam has already occurred and the reports have finally been submitted from Dodmets to DoDMERB - trying to anticipate potential remedials and speed up that process. if it occurs.

Best advice I can give you to speed up process is to use your personal physician [if allowed - normally is] for any remedials. This will be at your own expense for copays / deductibles etc. but you control the timing. DS' pediatrician handled his remedial [sugar in urine] and facilitated getting me results so I could scan and email ASAP vs the red tape black hole of Concorde / DoDMERB.

I imagine one trip to your orthopedist for follow up wrist/knee exam would be adequate but you have to wait for remedial notice.
I scheduled the appointment after portal notice but while waiting for paperwork to arrive; some Dr.s have multi-week appointment backlogs so you might want to hedge there and check what the current schedule looks like while you wait.

For issue # 2

Issue #2 - a mild sprain of the Medial Collateral Ligament (knee) a little less than a year ago - wore a brace during athletics for 4 weeks - fully healed, no residuals, no use of brace since.

From past experiences - Don't be surprised to see this:

Code - Description
R220.00 - Provide copies of all medical and surgical records regarding MCL/knee sprain 2016

R251.22 - Please provide a signed and dated statement that describes in detail your fitness/athletics activities, to include type, frequency, and intensity since your knee/MCL injury in 2016. Are you currently under any athletic restrictions? Must you use braces or other external devices for athletic participation?

I thought that might be the case. Interestingly, the Concorde form we filled out for Dodmets contained questions about fitness and athletic activities since the injury, including asking about current use of brace and restrictions. That was, of course, filled out, so maybe they wont require the info again. I should probably get the records just in case.

There is no harm in requesting the records just to be ready. Another bonus to doing so is that you might find information/diagnosis was actually somewhat different than what you remembered or thought it was at the time! This happened to me, and is actually worked in my DD's favor - the diagnosis spoken or implied to me (or what I understood at the time) was more serious than the actual diagnosis in the record. Once I had the records and discovered this, sent it to DoDMERB, she probably would not have been DQ'd at all in the beginning - in any case her status quickly changed to Q once I sent this information. It was such a relief to us! Its a great message for all to review child's records and don't check YES to anything on DoDBERB exam questionnaire unless you know you have that diagnosis.

Didn’t even wait for remedial codes on DS. We had medical records and current evaluation letters ready to go for all “yes” answers. We faxed those to his DODMERB tech as soon as the word remedial popped up. Status went from Remedial to Qualified all in the same day.

Were you asked to send them to the Tech in the instructions? I am waiting on DODMETS to send my docs to DODMETS and anticipating remedials...wondering if I could do the same and get qualified fast.

On DODMERB, it will say Remedial Requested. I knew they would want updated x-rays and documentation on a dislocated elbow, so we just went ahead and sent it. Their website will tech you the name of your technician and the fax number.
