Will underage drinking come back to bite me?

Hello,

I I was recently taken to the Emergency Room for excessive intoxication. My BAC was not life threatening (0.19).
.19 BAC is drunk as a skunk but not typically considered to be at the alcohol poisoning level. He was likely taken to the emergency room because he had friends that were concerned not because he had reached the level of alcohol poisoning.

Completely agree. His friends made the right call, they had no way of knowing what his level was - or would become. Simply would hate for someone to read all of the potentials for a negative outcome with XROTC and not have information that could help manage a difficult decision. Note I bolded the information about poision control being confidential -- you could even give a fake name etc..., but could get information to help.

Perhaps I'm a little over zealous on this point - but we lost a high schooler a few years ago in our community because the friends were too afraid to get help and my DH has run squad for 25+ years and has been on a few bad scenes where lives have been lost. Write my post off as a "public service announcement" nothing more or less.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but this most closely relates to my question.
Beginning of my Freshman year I was sent to the ER for drinking a tad too much, I was there for about 30 minutes and was told to go home. No IVs, no nothing. Was just told to drink lots of water and to get some rest. (Haven't drank since) and I started AF ROTC my sophomore year, from my understanding of this thread, there seems to be a battle of telling my det and not telling my det. In my case, I was never a part of the det when it happened, and my BAC was .15 if I remember correctly. No one saw me, no one had any idea that I was even considering the military. I'm also not going for a rated slot and my job only needs secret clearance. The only reason this actually crossed my mind (I completely forgot about the whole situation) was because I came across this thread. I've already done DoDmerb and gone to SFT. Do I need to worry about anything or should I just continue on? I wasn't trying to be dishonest, I just never considered it to be a big deal, and vowed to never touch alcohol again. So I just forgot.

When you went to the hospital, were you formally admitted, filled out paperwork and such. I am assuming there were no permanant records since you have passed Dodmerb.

When you filled out the Dodmerb Medical History form, I believe there is a question asking if you have ever drank alcohol, did you answer yes or no? If you answered yes then it should not be an issue, even with a TS Clearance. Take PIMA's advice and keep any records you have.

If you were not given a ticket or were taken to the hospital by the police then you should be fine.

A. 0.15 is not a tad over the limit, in most states it is almost 2x the legal limit. 0.08 is legal limit usually.

B. Who sent you to the ER? Police?

Do I think this is an issue? No.

You were NOT A CADET. You were not hospitalize. You did not receive an infraction for underage drinking.

Now if you showed up in the hospital because the police took you, than YES this is something to tell the det.

Are sure you don't need a TS clearance? The clearance process for non-rated will not occur until C400 yr. AFTER you get your AFSC. You may want 1 AFSC, but get a different one.

I would not worry. I would keep this in your personal records because TS clearance may be in your future.

Police didn't send me, a friend did.

I'm not positive, but from what I've researched I just need secret clearance. I also answered yes on the DoDmerb. Thank you for the help!

Also for filling out the paperwork, I honestly could not tell you because I don't remember. I think they just took my insurance. What do you mean exactly mean by, since I passed DoDmerb there were no permanent records?

You're fine. I suggest you quit worrying about it. Even if it comes up in a security check you answered all the questions properly so you should be good. Don't do it again (obviously). Keep up the good work. BTW, my opinion on this and $5.00 can get you a venti latte at Starbucks.

I was just saying that since you passed Dodmerb there was probably nothing in your medical records that caused a red flag.

Since you answere yes on the alcohol question and the police were not involved, I would just relax and continue on, you should have no issues. If you do ever need a TS clearance you will be fine since you answered yes on the alcohol question. I don't see any reason to be stressed by this.

Thank you so much guys! I just got a little worried when I saw this thread, but figured I should at least explain my situation before I give myself a mini heart attack. :yllol:
