Hey! Current M/C here. As for the testing only a few Napsters retake/take just the ACT. We maybe had 20 people take it this year. As for why your DD got sent to naps, that's anyone's guess. Naps is definitely what you make of it!

Does NAPS have soccer or gymnastics teams?

Thank you, and that is pretty bad for me then.

I disagree. If NAPS is offered and you accept, look at it as an opportunity to participate in something different. Remember, it's half full, not half empty! Best of luck!

In January my son accepted an appointment to NAPS class 2018. He looked at the 3 documents provided on the web portal and was not certain what he needs to do with them (he knows he has to fill them out) and who he is supposed to submit them to. The documents are: Police record check, body alteration form and the Candidate Processing checklist. When should he submit them (after or before graduation or ASAP) and who does he send them too?

    Thank you.

Has he looked closely or shown the docs/portal to you? I have no experience with NAPS documents, but I expect the instructions are either printed on the documents or stated somewhere on the portal.

There aren't enough here for a full team, but sometimes recruited athletes get sent here too. Like we have a soccer player and a few baseball recruits.

There are lots of recruited athletes at NAPS, but very few teams. Football and basketball are the main sports. Even to field a complete football team lots of non-recruited NAPS candidates play to help round out the team. Even though there aren't official teams doesn't mean the baseball players don't get together for workouts that the coaches from USNA send up to them or do specific strength and conditioning workouts to get ready for the next year.

I didn't find out about NAPS until April, and I didn't submit until about May, or even June... I'd say as soon as you can. It's not a big rush until it gets closer to July

@USMC1550 For the nomination process did you complete all applications fully before you left for NAPS or did you just let the offices know and have the paperwork sent to you? Thanks!

If you got accepted to NAPS already, call your congressmen and all those people and ask if you even have to resubmit. Some people had to redo one (me) and some only had to do an essay. I completed as much as I could with the information I had before NAPS. I was able to complete one full nomination, but one I had to hold off on because they wanted a transcript of my grades at NAPS. I HIGHLY recommend doing as much as you can, or even finishing them, before INDOC. And just bring all of your remaining information (along with an addressed envelope, etc.) with you so you can easily send out your nomination from NAPS, if you needed a transcript or something. You won't have any time to do it here really; I remember my friends scrambling and trying to juggle school and nominations... It was a mess.

@USMC1550 Thank you for the information!
Also, NAPS guarantees an appointment to the Academy as long as the conditions are met, correct?
For example, do you need to resubmit your application again (Foundation Program) or do you just need to secure a nomination and call it a day?

You do have to resubmit your application when attending NAPS or foundation school and you will need a nomination for both, but as others have said Sec of the Navy can give some to NAPSter's who were unable to secure one.

That's right. As long as your grades are up to standard, you don't get into any trouble, and you pass the PRT, you're in. The only thing we redo is the nomination process and we have to resubmit the Personal Information part on the application to the Academy, without the essay. It's not a bad deal.

Hence NAPS is also known as "the golden ticket". You don't mess up and you will be in Annapolis the following year!

I was offered a prep school spot for USCGA and the wrestling coach believes i will be sent to NAPS, do you know any Coast Guard cadets at NAPS or just USNA, and also what is the cadet pay like?

I know plenty of the Coast Guard cadets! I am not sure what their pay is, I think it's the same as ours. About $400 a month.
