So I have received an appointment to the Naval Academy, but I just went to the dentist today and he said I'll need to get one or two wisdom teeth pulled in the next year or two. Should I get this done before I go or would they rather have me do it with their dentists?

It is your choice. "If" they require extraction and you don't want to bear the expense now, the USNA will extract the teeth. "If" you get these extracted now, send me an email with the records of the extraction attached to Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil:thumb:

As Larry states its it your choice. A couple of other things to think about:

If you get them out now, you'll have mom and dad to sit and hold your hand and listen to you gripe for a couple of days about how bad it is, and they can hold your hand and tell you how much they love you. :thumb:

If you get them out at the academy, you may miss a couple days of classes and possibly some training evolutions. You'll also have a couple of roommates who wont want to listen to you gripe, and most likely will not hold your hand and tell you that they love you. :shake:

Again, the choice is yours.. You can see where I'm leaning...

I had all 4 of mine pulled out while going through MCRD. The only ones happy about it were my parents, who being very poor were glad they didn't have to pay for it.

Drill Instructors might have enjoyed being able to ride me a bit harder for the 2 days bed rest the Dental Officer ordered. It was alot of fun having to do my physical training while standing on my bunk. The drill instructors said the order was to stay in bed, it didn't say to not train.

Anyhow, I would do it now. I have the same issue with our daughter. We are going to have hers taken out prior to leaving. In fact I think it's in March they come out.

Our son is having all 4 of his out on 3rd of April (1st day of Spring Break) and is hoping to be better for a baseball game on the 7th! That way he won't have to deal with any "additional" aches and pains during Plebe year!!

alright thanks, I'm going to try to have them out and enjoy the comforts of home
