Wisdom teeth

Thanks, ProudKPDad. It sounds like DS would be OK with the removal 8 weeks before Indoc. We had to move his surgery because of AP exams, so now he will have it done 11 weeks before Indoc. He is still waiting for his BFE, but does have a LOA.

Recommend you write down a lost of questions that you have for the surgeon as in the answering of one question leads off to a tangent & the other questions are forgotten about. Anesthesia is paramount. Who is doing it, what drug(s), but esp. the monitoring of your DS while he is under. Usually a pulse oximetry on his finger & BP monitoring if I recall. Who in the room is tasked with checking the monitors? Unfortunately a patient in our neighborhood had this surgery without the proper monitoring and died (this was in the 90's).

This is our second child going through this. A friend of mine is an anesthesiologist and I went with the oral surgeon they used for their son, in a hospital setting associated with the local Children’s Hospital. Probably more expensive than at a dentist’s office, but worth the peace of mind.

Definitely agree.

We went to an oral surgeon for the wisdom teeth exraction for son and daughter. The extraction plus anesthesia was a couple hundred dollars. Recovery time was about 3 days and 1 month total for stitches to come out.

Wish we had your dentist; it was $3000 for DS. I can't imagine a surgery with anesthesia being a couple hundred dollars.

I was thinking the same thing! Perhaps they have great insurance and that’s the deductible?

I paid cash. Found the his statement from 2017 from the Oral Surgeon.

1) Deep sedation/general anesthesia : $138
2) Extraction/Impacted/Complicated: $338

Sorry you folks got ripped off.

I was actually wrong; looked at my receipt and it was $2000 not $3000 but still alot more than $338. Maybe it's the area you live in?
