Withdrawing from a class

If I have received an appointment on my second try, is there a certain grade in college classes that will possibly get my appointment rescinded? I'm doing fine in the STEM classes( chem, physics, calc 1/2) but at my school, the engineering curriculum requires an economics class, and that is causing problems. Is a C going to get the appointment rescinded? If below, would withdrawing from the class (no grade penalty/grade isn't on transcript, but transcript does show drop) look worse?

No. A "C" isn't going to get your Offer of Appointment rescinded.
My advice to you is to stick with it and get as good a grade as you can. You won't have options to drop a class at USNA, so you might as well get used to the Latin phrase Amplecti Sugentes. ;)

Also - the only class I ever failed was Econ 201. It was because economics made no rational sense, whatsoever.
Once I figured that out, I re-took the class (same professor) and got an "A". Go figure.

You will have to submit your final transcript. A "C" while not a great grade should not cause a major problem. Withdrawing from a class would look worse and need an explanation.

... and its only early April. Plenty of time to bring that grade up. Perhaps you can get some tutoring from someone in your unit. At the very least take a look at the Khan Academy which has several economics courses. It's free.

I’m with @kinnem. Fight through it and raise that grade. Don’t get complacent just because you’ve learned that one C won’t impact your offer.

Because once at USNA, you’ll surely find yourself at midterm with a mediocre grade or worse. And dropping the class won’t be an option. And you’ll realize that the grade matters because it impacts your class standing, your ship choice, your ability to take leave, your opportunity to do an LREC, and so on. So you’ll have no choice but to suck it up and raise that grade. If you can do it now, you’ll be better prepared to do it at USNA.

Stick with it! See the prof, study in groups, get a tutor, put time in every day. You can do it! DS followed that plan for calc first semester and aced the final! You can too!
You’ll be proud of yourself when you persevere. See you in June!
