Just got word that I received a full four-year scholarship for Marine Option NROTC

Don't know where to yet, but my top 5 wishlist I gave them was:

VMI
VA TECH
NC State
Citadel
GA Tech

The Marine option board meets in two weeks...did you get notified now from an earlier board??

I thought there was only two Marine boards this year. Is the last one in two weeks or did the OP get some special consideration?

You didn't win anything.... you earned it. Congrats!

Now if I would just get my damn acceptance to the NROTC

For those asking about boards, there was one that convened in late October and that was the first out of three boards for the marine option scholarship

thanks everyone!

I got a call from the officer who put in all of the applications in my region, and he also sent me an email. I haven't gotten a letter yet.

Congratulations cmccollum4693!!! Looks as though you're the first NROTC MC to be awarded a scholarship. :thumb:

If you were a good candidate they will call on the phone first. It happened to my son, that being said is first school was MIT and he was rejected, among other issues. There was alot of excitement, at first. But as time, went on it was down hill from there. I am sure, you have your stuff, in one sock.

Awaiting word on Marine Option scholarship

Has anyone received official word on the Marine Option scholarship? I believe the board met in late October. My DS's recruiting officer said that he had received unofficial results from his District, but they needed "3 more levels of approval" before official results would be published. Yet I'm reading here that some applicants have already heard. Any intel would be appreciated.

First of all congratulations to those who have earned scholarships. It is a huge accomplishment. But this stuff is all new to me. I don't know anyone who has been through the process before and the Marine I am working with is new to the job as well. When are we supposed to hear back from the first board?

DS received notification about his USMC scholarship last week, we were notified by an email from his region and then we received a letter a few days afterwards. My understanding is that this was the first board.

Congratulations to you on "earning" your scholarship!
