My Xbox 360 had the Red Rings of Death and I did the towel trick and it totally works now. Yay!

okay..
whats the difference in a candidate and a candidate appointee???

The Towel Trick.

Okay here it goes.

1) Disconnect everything (Hard Drive, AV Cable, and Ethernet cable etc.) except the power cable.

2) Turn on the 360. Then find 3 towels and simply wrap your 360 up. Keep it on for about 20-25 min.

3) Unwrap it, turn it off, and let it cool down for about 10 minutes.

4) Then connect everything again and turn it on.

Thats all I did, and to my surprise it worked. The first time I heard about this, I was like wow this sounds dumb. Yet, out of boredom and my desire to play the Halo Wars demo, I ended up doing it.

However, I've heard that this trick will only work for about a week or so. I'm on my 3rd day and it still works just fine

The idea is to overheat the inside of the 360 enough to where the "loose" connection between the processor and the motherboard will melt back together.

Oh and I didn't use damp towels. I used regular dry towels. I'm not sure if it would matter but I know that water+360 = no good.

Call Xbox support and get your coffin for your 360. The towel trick fixes it for a while, but it will soon go KAPUT again. I've had 3 red lights on mine 4 times now :unhappy:

Oh well, no Xbox 360 next year. I'll be flying real simulators hopefully :thumb:

Yep, here it comes. School is canceled for in anticipation for up to 8 inches.

Now it has to melt off the baseball field again

oh no

my xbox is acting like it might be getting the RROD soon again.... oh well... sounds like i'm gonna be doing the towel trick every week.
