I just got medically cleared after receiving a conditional appointment about 2 months ago. I stopped working on my pull ups since I kind of gave up on the academy. Do I need to be able to do pull ups once I get there. Like will it be in the fitness test and everything. Also I’m a little over the weight limit. If I fail these too things will they send me home? I’ve already started working out, I’m just a little concerned. Also I’m a female

You take the PFT and AFT a number of times during but it doesn’t count towards your actual grade. Just try your hardest and you will be fine. If you’re a little overweight that’s fine, just know you will need to work a little bit harder than others to get in shape. Go through basic with a right attitude and mindset and you will be fine.

What does the pft include?

I would recommend being able to do at least 2 pullups when you go in :)

To be honest, you need to try to be in the best shape you can be in when you arrive. BCT is hard enough without the struggles and soreness of being out of shape.

The good news is you still have 42 days till I-Day, are young, and your body will respond a lot faster than an old man like me

My suggestion is to alternate days of running and strength training (push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, and maybe some bodyweight squats). Lots of workout plans online but an old-fashioned Pyramid routine may work well. If you can't do pull-ups use a band or a chair to assist and get the reps in. Stop training about 3-4 days before I-Day to give your body a chance to recover and rest.
