Worried MOM WAITING yet again!

mom1993- I spoke too soon on the last box.... first get the nominaion (check) then get the appointment (fingers crossed) and THEN consider attending the Open House for New Appointees. Didn't mean to put the cart before the horse. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed for ya'll. Best of Luck. aooga15:redface:
 
DS received word of his Senatorial nomination to the USMMA! He was considered a Hold candidate last year, received a nomination from the same source, and did not make it in. He is at a good but large state university and is doing well.

The one area that needed improvement were his SAT/ACT scores. He has been diligently retaking them as a college student and now has the Class of 2015 Mean admit scores. Yeah! He is still continuing to retake them to prove that he wants and deserves an appointment.

He is also a contracted AROTC cadet and enjoying the experience.

Wow! Good to know that we aren't the only ones in this boat! Sounds exactly like what we have been through and are doing! Fingers Crossed for your DS as well! Good Luck to them both.
 
Thanks mom1993. DS is trying not to get his hopes up so much because they were dashed last year. He knows that he will probably be back on the Wait List (because of the state we live in).

But give our kids credit, they know what they want and are willing to work hard for it. That, in and of itself, is a victory and a sign that they will achieve their goals.

FinFan and mom1993, 2015 DS had a classmate whom went to a big state university his freshman year (and was doing ROTC) but really wanted USMMA... he DID get in with the class of 2015. It is possible! Best of luck to both of you! It's worth the effort.... will keep fingers crossed!
 
Ok guys I need some more advice!
DS has received nomination as stated above and as of now 1st semester of college grades look good, i understand that the minimum GPA is 2.5, his GPA for 14 credit hours is 3.601! Any idea of where we might stand for an appointment?

No idea on the question but the grade update has been sent right? By mail, fax, electronically from the school and another copy mailed or, overnighted? ( okay that is maybe overkill but can one be too thorough at this point? And a follow up phone call from DS to make sure it was received?

call admissions

make sure to call Betty at the USMMA (admissions) to make sure she received the gpa scores, etc... it's always good to call Betty! She is very kind and helpful and you will have peace of mind that everything is in.

I've been checking status of application on-line and they still have yet to post DS's nomination? Any suggestions, he sent a scanned copy to his addmisions feild rep but haven't seen it change? Thanks
 
You mean the admissions rep AT KP, right? ( I don't know all the titles )

have your child call Admissions at KP. Ask for Betty. (she works in admissions). Tell her you are wanting to make sure everything is in, and that they got the nomination. MY DS called a handful of times and they were very helpful. (he learned to just ask for Betty when he called... she really is great). I believe DS sent USMMA a copy of the nomination and the "official" nominations were also sent from the senators and congressman. It gave him (us) peace of mind to know everything was in and that they had a copy of the nominations. Good Luck!
