My DS has a few new eca/honors and didn't know if he should contact admissions and let them know about them. He was voted in as vice president of Mu Alpha Theta (math honor society), he was one of 3 kids in his school asked to compete on his schools Double Down team, (local tv show where kids from different schools compete against each other in scholastic challenges ie Jepardy), and he was asked to join the schools math club and compete on their "A" team. Not sure what the process is for updating USNA with the new information. Can anyone point us in the right direction on these? Thanks

Also, he thinks his scores SAT/ACT (690/720 and 33/30) are pretty good and was originally not planning on taking them again. He is now not sure about that. Are these ok or should he keep going? Thanks

always update. why wouldn't you?

In principle I would agree with this, but I have also been told that in the grand scheme of things joining a club or two is not going to boost your application tremendously.

However, It never hurts.

When I updated my application with some leadership positions and academic honors, my Admissions coordinator advised me to have my high school college counselor email the USNA admissions office with verification that I received said honors/positions and the dates that I received them.

The MAT vice presidency would probably be a good thing to let USNA know about as it demonstrates leadership.

I read here only important items should be sent in. Not sure if these qualify. The vp office I think would, but not sure about the others.

Agree with others you should update regarding the VP and since you'll be contacting anyway might as well add the others. The SAT/ACT scores are good. Good enough? No one here knows since we don't know his competition, nor does he. Since it's superscored he can't lose by re-taking, but I'm sure he has other things to do as well. I would say do what he feels comfortable with.

Update items of significance . . . being elected to a position (e.g., club officer, team captain), receiving an award, being named/elected to an honor society, completing a milestone (e.g., Eagle Scout), making a regional team (e.g., all-district), etc. The fact you joined a club or participated in an activity (e.g., this WE's charity event) isn't going to make any difference in the grand scheme of things so really not worth adding. If you're in doubt, however, better to turn it in than not.
