From a source I would deem impeccable - directly from parents of disenrolled first class and second class CGA cadets.
 
Folks I saw dis enrolled after two years had to serve. Some went active others reserve. Maybe that's changed. If it has, they're robbing the tax payer.
 
We're holding on to the 529 in case he has to use it, either for separation or for leaving before junior year (cannot say "cow," too silly; oh wait, I just did). I cannot fathom VelveteenCadet being separated for any reason, but strange things do happen, so you always have to have backup plans. I agree with those above who say that adult mistakes have adult consequences and should be shouldered by the adult who committed them, but the 529 funds were accumulated to pay for college-related costs and they will be there if kiddo ever needs to use them, for whatever reason.
