I'm a Falcon Scholar this year and I received a letter from the foundation saying that I will receive instructions for logging onto my application in September.
I need to work on my writing and would like to get a early start on these essays. Does anyone know what the questions/word limits are for the essays this year?

Thank you for the help,

Seth

Sure thing! You must answer ONE of these following two questions. They are both a 250-300 word limit:

1. When did you first become interested in the Air Force Academy and serving in the Air Force? What started your interest? What Air Force career field do you hope to enter? What do you expect to gain from the Air Force Academy experience and how will it help you in your Air Force career?

2. Which aspect of the Air Force Academy experience (academic, military training, athletic, social/spiritual) do you anticipate will be most challenging for you? Discuss why and how you expect to succeed in that area.

Then all applicants MUST answer the third question, which has a 400-500 word limit:

3. Describe a setback or ethical dilemma that you have faced. How did you resolve it? How did the outcome affect you? If something similar happens in the future, how would you react?

I already did my essays for the most part; I did the 1st of the two essays. Keep in mind, the word limits arn't very definitive, so a few words extra won't kill you. Good luck!

I wouldn't know, I'm the first to apply in my family. But by the looks of the questions, I would think not, becuase they are pretty standard questions.

Ya, well atleast for me those would be easy questions to answer. I hope I get those ones.

You most likely will. Random question: How did you get "Prospective" under your name? I've seen other guys with candidate.

1. Essay prompts don't change every year. They were the same for 2013. However, they may or may not change over a long period of time.
2. Prospect means you have submitted the prequestionaire. Candidate means that you have either received a nomination, or what you have submitted so far for your app is competitive, and you have a good likelihood of receiving an appt.

To get the Prospective/Candidate under your name, go to "User CP," then "Networking," and then "Group Memberships." Then select the title that you want listed under your name. Hope this helps.

Good Luck,

Brian Andre
