Writing Sample/Essay Prompts

Condensing material into succinct, articulate and informative pieces in a well-organized format is a much-valued officer skill. Huge issues and related decisions are presented, analyzed, and provided recommendations, often in one-page "point papers." Have some fun googling "military point papers."

Eliminate phrases that don't add value. Resist the urge to use ten-dollar words when the shorter word works well. Watch out for excess "that," meaningless "in order to" (try "to," see if it works). Punctuate cleanly. Write for clarity of expression, simplicity of form, ease of readability, humanity of tone.
 
When writing the second essay I think I would focus more on specific moments in my life which have built me up to the person I am today, the events which have shaped my character into what it is.
The directions at the top of the page state that you should use "specific concrete details" so I am using pivotal moments that have shaped my life to show how my character has developed into that of an ideal cadet.
They're asking for your "unique perspectives" and I have interpreted that to mean that they want to know why you believe your character traits would help you contribute at the academy, even if they are unorthodox.
