Title says it all. I initially inputted the wrong SSN into West Point's system by one number. I did not realize this until I tried to access DoDMERB. I have since been able to access DoDMERB on an educated guess as to what and where my bad input was, but I cannot seem to update my SSN. Even on my medical history PDF, (the PDF given after filling out the form) it shows the wrong SSN. How can I change this?

Since the original error was made associating your USMA application to an incorrect SSN, call Admissions, apologize for your lack of attention to detail (I doubt you will do this again), and ask them to check what they have and what steps need to happen to correct it, understanding you will be making them do extra work. You have to fix the root illness first, then deal with the symptoms. Once your application file has the correct SSN, they will do whatever administrative stuff they need to do with DoDMERB, so your records
can be correctly associated with the right SSN. DoDMERB will do whatever administrative tidying they need to do.

Don’t procrastinate or do this by email and expose your SSN. Organize your info, put on your best professional and most appreciative demeanor, and speak to a live person.

This happens. You won’t be the first, or the last. “The devil is in the details” - classic military saying.

Now, if Mr. Mullen, Deputy Director DoDMERB, pops up here and tells you something different, do what he says.

USMA Admissions is no doubt open right now. You’ll feel better if you grab up your stuff, do a few minutes’ thinking and taking notes, take a deep breath and just dive in. They are nice people there who understand eager candidates haven’t yet developed the check and double-check habit. This SSN error needs to be identified and removed from the system, before it has a chance to cause additional “symptoms.” Your SSN is a key identifier in your military and civilian life. If you don’t have it memorized now, it’s time.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

As always, Capy MJ is 101% correct.

I'm traveling. Had connectivity challenges in hotel. Notify West Point Admissions and send a copy of your SSN Card via fax to 719-333-3578.
Indicate what the incorrect number is and ask to correct your file. We will:wiggle:
