XBOX 360 during plebe year?

I'm sorry but Plebes with Xboxes (or for that matter any cadet with an Xbox!) I must be an old grad...The Corps has!!!
 
I was skimming through the forums and happened to come across this...made me LOL, especially thinking about what old grads would say...

It might just be me but if I were at The Academy (Air Force hopefully in my case), I would never play X-Box, since I spent so much work getting there, why stop working once I get there. I mean I never play video games to start with so that may be why but it seems like its ruining all the hard work. I get the stress relief idea but there are more productive ways I think (ex. reading or writing letters home).

It is company dependant. Most don't allow it until after Plebe year. I hooked mined up during Grad Week (with xbox live) since all we did was parade practices.

There are many ways to have fun. Obviously, video games are not your hobby but if they are then there is nothing wrong with playing them in moderation. Too much work will end up being the real time waster.
 
anyone know if a video chat device is allowed

My plebe candidate wrote home and mentioned he will not be allowed skype or webcam, although i remember somewhere in my investigations that they were allowed...please clarify

Webcam is allowed. There may be company restrictions their use by Plebes (such as only weekends).

Skype isn't allowed because it poses a security risk to the network.
 
I can't imagine having time to play an XBox, other than maybe on weekends at your sponsors' house, when you'd otherwise be watching football.

Whether at USMA or USNA, grades are REALLY, REALLY important. Not just for service selection but for later, when you may want to attend grad school. That C or D that could easily have been a B and that seemed not to matter when you were a plebe or 3/C will come back to haunt you when you end up in a branch of service that you hate and/or don't get into the grad school of your choice.

Leave the XBox with your family and sponsors and play it only on WEs and on leave.

Trust us old folks on this one.:rolleyes:
 
Some cadets consider playing XBox on the weekend a stress reliever and is a mode for further bonding with other cadets.
