Its my understanding that the years spent in school at West Point count towards years of service with the Army in determining length of service for pension, etc. I was wondering if the years spent in school at USMMA count the same if one elects to go into one of the branches of service after graduating from USMMA. Hopefully this question is clear. Thanks in advance for any answers.

I have no clue on USMMA but that's not true for USMA - time spent at West Point doesn't count towards years of service/retirement/time in grade, etc. Therefore I would think that USMMA's wouldn't either.

exceptions to Years of service

Given your title as "Sgt." are you in the active armed forces now, and looking to join the academy on a special sponsorship?

If so, that may qualify as an exception. I do recall many years ago a midshipman sponsored by the Marine Corps who was being paid by the Marines during his education at KP. If they are paying you, then you are accruing time.

BTW - to the first response - I never realized just how visionary Lincoln was.

Prior Service is counted:biggrin: Although you must do the four yeares. Sgt Hulka's big toe is not counted.
