My son's portal has this message, despite his sending his first semester transcript three separate times. He got the "application closed" message, but then it was reversed and it's open now. His RC reported via email that they have the transcript but didn't give any other info.

He's gotten a congressional and senate nomination and been medically qualified. The first transcript that he sent from his school was early January, and when the portal wasn't updated he sent it two more times. I'm worried that the admission committee won't look at his application before this is resolved...but nothing seems to be happening. Any thoughts?

Portal updates have to be input and normally lag behind, sometimes far behind. If the RC says they have the transcript, then it as certain as you can be that they have it. But save the email just in case.

The RC is the admissions officer for the region and, other than the Director of Admissions, is the most senior person who can confirm receipt of the transcript. The lack of a portal update won't delay the flow of the application through the black box of admissions.

Are they coming directly from his school, and are they signed? Our DS's transcripts were rejected by USMA because they had not been signed by his HS Counselor. Fortunately, Admissions let him know via email and the Counselor resent a signed copy within minutes.

He's at university now, so they came directly from the school. There's been no indication of a reason for rejection. It is curious, because it's been several weeks since the first one was sent. I hope that they are not delaying a decision because of this.

That's a shame. My son's seemed to update almost the same day that they were sent from his HS (once signed)...strange.

I too, hope it is not holding up their decision. That would be unfair.

Our DS's HS transcript was sent Jan 9 via email to admissions. Portal didn't change. He waited 2.5 weeks, and with application deadline looming he emailed RC. She confirmed receipt. Within an hour the portal had green check mark next to 7th sem. transcript.

UPDATE--my son traded messages with his RC a few times. There was some confusion, but Admissions had the transcripts, but had not updated the portal. They have not considered his admission yet because it wasn't "official" that the transcripts were received. The portal was updated, and he has all green check-marks now!

Lesson learned--don't sit back and wait if something seems off
