YOUR DOGS, CATS & Other Domestic Fauna - Cute, sad, buff or silly

At USNA, they are known as “Yard Rats.” So…do you make Yard Ratatouille? 🙄
Back when the Dead Sea was only sick (when I was a mid a long time ago) there was an old African American gentleman who used to sit on a bench in the yard and feed the squirrels while saying "Here kitty kitty" and the squirrels did not seem to mind the identity issue.

Our cat got eaten by a suburban coyote (I didn’t even know we had those around here) about a month ago. So we went down to the Humane Society and picked a beautiful new kitten! She will be an indoor cat.

So sorry to hear about your cat that had a fatal encounter with a coyote. They are an adaptive species. Your kitten is indeed lucky to find her home with you.

Another Vent Hound! Smart dogs.
My dog would be jealous of those lucky pups with floor vents. Ours are in the ceiling. He has a nice comfy bed next to our bed but, especially in the summer, prefers to sleep on the cool tile at the entrance to the bathroom. This causes quite the intricate dance when I get up to use the restroom in the middle of the night and have to feel around with my foot to locate him and avoid stepping on him.

We don’t have that problem with our 9lb poodle. She sleeps on the bed in between us. She doesn’t even move if one of us gets up to go to the bathroom

From Boxer Mandy’s daily journal: “As a member of a dog breed trained to be companions in every setting with my human, I am thrilled she is choosing to work on the shady screened porch with the overhead fan on. My favorite old towels and a cool tile floor allow me to do my best work, while also listening to bird song and observing any wildlife that happens by, including that demon known as the mail truck. Note my watchful stance as I rumble in my chest and drive him away. I am quite proud of my work today.”

Celebrate September as National Service Dog Month!

One of our "barn" kittens resting on the porch about 3 feet from me. They are starting to tame down since I give them bowls of milk in the morning.
