YOUR DOGS, CATS & Other Domestic Fauna - Cute, sad, buff or silly

This is Speckle. My husband was adamantly against pets until a brutal winter had this stray huddling on our back porch, right in the line of sight of his workout equipment. First thing he fed her was gingerbread cookie. 😳
She subsequently repaid him by curling up on his stomach and keeping him company through a shoulder surgery and then broken arm.
Here she found the "wolf" costumes from my daughter's ballet and made herself at home. Sadly, we lost her in 2017.

Our two shepherds who were rescues and each 11 years old. We lost them both to health issues within the past two months so we are currently in the search for a couple of dogs to replace them. We have always had GSDs but the house boss thinks she might want Belgian Malinois this time. We shall see.

Ouch. Two inside the same window. 😢

Our 13-year old border collie (Friday was her birthday). Rescued her just before X-mas after she was 9-years old, one day before she was to be euthanized. She gets around slower these days, unless she sees a cat.

Another lucky dog!

This is Nuggett. He was our plebe's dog. Found in the desert abandonded in our hot August at 6 weeks old. He was the BESTEST dog ever. We lost him at almost 14 healthy years to a Mojave last year. Worst night in my life as a pet owner. He was truly, the sweeetest, softest, gentlest dog and our son's best friend.

This is Dixie (our 23 year old daughter's dog -she left her with us since she and Walter are besties) and my little Walter. Both were rescues. Don't be fooled by his innocent look, he steals food any chance he can. She once took an entire Santa Maria barbecued and sliced tri tip, which was resting on the counter, while I was outside measuring and retreiving basketball throws in preparation for our son's CFA.

This is my granddog ,Cheddar. He gets pudding cups when he comes to visit me. He was just a pup here.

This sweet boy is also Cheddar, all grown up. He gave me the stink eye when I pelted him with a snowball (he loves snow) and then he proceeded to catch the next one and show me that he was so proud of himself! I love him, despite his loud barking.

After we lost Speckle, my son, the plebe, found this rescue German Shepherd. He is an awesome, gentle soul who now follows me from room to room, making sure I don't get lost. We don't know how old he is, but I'm seeing signs of age. 😔 And a bit of depression. But he is a treasure to have around our now empty nest Here he is with his nose in some of my son's sports jerseys.IMG_20200824_152746.jpg

@Heatherg21
Those look like Shepherd ears in the picture of the two together 🥰
I have always thought she was shepherd and heeler mix. She likes to take care of us by walking immediately in front of where we are headed. She hates to be alone. And she loves to chase shadows. And she despises thunder. She ends up in my lap.

Ya. She won’t stop licking herself and getting an infection. She is 8. Never hardly been to the vet she is so healthy. But this year allergies popped up. Vet said it’s so dry, that they are bad this year. She had a $188 shot for allergies that could last up to 3 months. It lasted 7 days 🤨. We have been 3 times and spent about $600....

I blame 2020

This thread spurred me to do some housecleaning, curating and archiving of pet photos. I can across this one from a snowstorm, showing the big guy Boxer R at the rail and the dearly departed Boxer S, still much missed. After a 75-80% humidity day here in Annapolis with zero breeze, I immediately felt cooled off by this.
