Haha yes they have names. Clam is “Squirt” and the flame hawk is “Red Leader” from Star Wars. It’s a challenge keeping them but after a years of growth its very rewarding. I have had my clam for 3.5 years now (not long compared to its lifespan) and it had been awesome seeing it grow from mini to about 8”. Top down photo using a cool acrylic box i made

I swear Boxers R (partial registered name Red Baron of Faerdorn) and M (Remember Me) do some version of this every day. BFFs. R was very sad when Boxer S passed away in the early spring of 2019 before her time. He quickly and happily welcomed Boxer M as his new companion.

This is Jetta! We have an automotive theme for our dog names. Edsel was the first, then Herbie the LoveBug, and now Jetta. View attachment 6757View attachment 6757
Nice looking dog.. Very cool on the names. My Dad, I, and my three brothers all have the same initials. We used to have a hell of a time telling our underwear apart at summer camp. :)

Reggie and Chloe eating. They get along like brother and sister. When Chloe, the poodle, was a puppy she used to sleep at night in a crate. I had the crate covered with a blanket. One night I put her in the crate and she was a little slow going in so I had to push her a bit and close the door after her. The next morning when I went to let her out I was surprised to see her walk out followed by Reggie the cat. I couldn’t see that Reggie was in there when I put Chloe in the night before and neither one objected. They happily spent the night in there together.

This is Niblet. He's one of the horses at a farm animal sanctuary I volunteer at. As his name suggests, he likes to nibble at everything (shirts, cones, hippity hop balls, you name it). He also loves chasing the tractor when it drives by his pasture. Really sweet guy to spend time with.

I do not own any animals. Had three gold fish as a kid. I got this notion after reading the adjoining thread, “Time to Float the Idea of Liberty for Mids”. It is dedicated to all the Navy and Marine “Liberty Hounds” past and present, and to those liberty hounds at heart.

Here is the wiki definition of Liberty Hound: A sailor who conspires to or is able to take extra liberty, or who enjoys liberty more than anything else. Also, sailor(s) who head for the quarterdeck immediately after "shift colors."

My JO shipmates and I where big liberty hounds on cruise and on detachments The only thing that held us back were OOD in port watches. We'd actually mimic the basset howl anytime the word liberty was mentioned-ahOOOOOh!! I'd imagine @OldRetSWO, @Devil Doc, @Capt MJ and more than a couple others were liberty hounds. That was the cool part of the Navy.

My Father-in-law (in the middle) partying with sailors of the Italian Navy on liberty.

Sweeeet. Old School liberty hounds!
As an aside, I have a friend whose son is now a 3/c at the Italian Naval Academy in Livorno. He recently completed his at sea training on the ITS Amerigo Vespucci. The Italian Naval Academy sent their plebes home in March and then started at-sea training in June. The ship quarantined at sea for sixty days and made no port visits. They returned to Taranto, in southern Italy, last week.
The father sent me this image taken in 1962. It looks like the same era of your FIL with sailors having liberty on their mind. Liberty hounds, I recon, exist in all navies.Indy and Vespucci.jpg Liberty Hounds.jpg

Our two shepherds who were rescues and each 11 years old. We lost them both to health issues within the past two months so we are currently in the search for a couple of dogs to replace them. We have always had GSDs but the house boss thinks she might want Belgian Malinois this time. We shall see.

Good luck if you decide to get a Malinois. There's a reason they are called "Maligators". Very high energy too, but cool dogs.

This is Nuggett. He was our plebe's dog. Found in the desert abandonded in our hot August at 6 weeks old. He was the BESTEST dog ever. We lost him at almost 14 healthy years to a Mojave last year. Worst night in my life as a pet owner. He was truly, the sweeetest, softest, gentlest dog and our son's best friend.

This is Dixie (our 23 year old daughter's dog -she left her with us since she and Walter are besties) and my little Walter. Both were rescues. Don't be fooled by his innocent look, he steals food any chance he can. She once took an entire Santa Maria barbecued and sliced tri tip, which was resting on the counter, while I was outside measuring and retreiving basketball throws in preparation for our son's CFA.

This is my granddog ,Cheddar. He gets pudding cups when he comes to visit me. He was just a pup here.

This sweet boy is also Cheddar, all grown up. He gave me the stink eye when I pelted him with a snowball (he loves snow) and then he proceeded to catch the next one and show me that he was so proud of himself! I love him, despite his loud barking.

Assuming the name Cheddar came from Brooklyn Nine-Nine? Great show!
