YOUR DOGS, CATS & Other Domestic Fauna - Cute, sad, buff or silly

I’m glad to see this thread still is growing.

Yesterday I had a total shoulder replacement done. The pups won’t leave my side ever since I came home from the hospital. Junie the Black and Tan girl has been on high alert looking for whatever hurt me. Amos the sable boy just wants to be petted and since my arms are off-limits he chooses to tangle within my legs. Dogs are amazingly empathetic creatures.

Happy healing to you, looks like you are in good company.

Once we can no longer handle a combined 2 boxerpower at the end of leashes and 125 lbs of pure muscular athleticism, we want one of these guys.
We had several boxers prior to this guy, I love boxers but the last one passed at only 5 and I couldn’t do that again. He was the best! Closest thing personality wise but way less energy. Plus much easier to handle. He’s only 25 pounds.

They are. Know that feeling. We hear Frenchies have that same big playful personality, endless energy but couch cuddler superstar quality.

Personality is huge just like the boxers I like to call them both clowns or cartoon characters. French bulldogs look like they are put together with spare parts. But these guys sleep a lot more and you can tire them out easier. My boxer could run 6 miles with me and by the time I was out of the shower he was looking to play ball. Thank god for my kids because they would play with him non stop. My son and him were inseparable.

We always have at least two, sometimes three, so boxer games can be played at any time.

Sounds like a lot of shenanigans going on at your house. They are like potato chips go ahead and try to only have one.
Our first boxer exhausted us. DH grew up with them and had clearly forgotten the boxer lifestyle is play-nap-play until you drop, lifelong. We promised her her own boxer puppy when she turned two. And thence the series began…

For the Doberman fans.

I stopped by DD’s house to day to check on the two Doberman granddogs left home together on a trial run.
They met me at the gate, docked tails and whole bodies a wiggle. The new pup couldn’t stop entwining himself in my legs.
But, they had knocked over two baby gates, opened the pantry folding doors and emptied out the breading station from the trash. DD had made Turkey breast schnitzel the night prior.
And then they napped.

I had never been around them. They are literally 'velcro' dogs. Best cuddlers ever, so affectionate.
My aunt works as an ER nurse, and she had a patient once who had epilepsy. They had a service dog, a doberman, who would help the patient whenever they had a seizure. Unfortunately the patient passed away, and they were going to give the dog to the shelter until my aunt offered to take her in. Poppy, the sweetest doberman anyone could ask for, thinks of herself as a lapdog despite her 100+ pounds. She's about 10 years old, so needs help whenever she want's to hop on the couch. I'll post a picture of her when I can.

And I would bet her patient’s blood pressure declines when she’s present

Morning ritual after early first walk of the day, a quick warming nap curled up behind my knees before breakfast. Sixty-eight pounds of snoring warmth.

Can Boxers be barkers? Are yours. DS made a mistake of getting an Australian Cattle puppy. They drive cattle by nipping at their hooves and the he wondered why the dog was always biting. They re-homed the dog to a cattle farm and it's doing well there. He keeps saying no more puppies bu no doubt he'll change one day. They need a dog that can keep up with mountain hiking and beach runs but be gentle and cuddly at home. I think a boxer might fit the bill. If I can get them to change their minds on dogs maybe someday I can have grandchildren, or at least granddogs. 😄

Boxers are fantastic dogs.

I follow Leroy Brown on tiktok - such a sweet mild mannered dog.
