New profile posts

Hello, so I wanted to delete a thread but could not figure out how to, would you be able to do that for me? It is the thread that is titled SLE Trouble. I already edited the post I put but could not figure out how to delete the thread entirely. Thank you
Hey, looks like we'll both be heading to USAFA. Are you excited? Thought I would reach out since I'm also from SC

That is a plus for us. I see that you got an LOA from admissions, are you an recruited athlete? Also have you heard from any other SC peeps?

Definitely not an athlete :) I have not talked to anyone else from SC. Everyone else I saw on the admissions portal from SC was the parent filling it out for their kid and I didn't feel like messaging someone's parent. You should join the loopchat if you haven't already

You are posting this on a public profile page, not a private message. I tried to PM you but couldn’t

I posted my advice. Also, since you went to ND, do you know Todd Marinovich's (former USC QB) story? It's sad. If you don't, look it up.
he has been offered a full ride to rutgers but he worked hard to have a better life and AF pulled the carpet out from under him. He won't be able to afford Notre Dame, UVA or Cornell due to their decision. Sad
Yes, do a word search here in SAF for "secondary portal." Copy that web link when logged into USNA, open another tab, and paste the URL for the secondary portal into that new tab. It's a clunky method. The formal appointment should come to your email first and then to the portal. Good luck.
Any word yet w your DD? How is she liking NMMI, my DD doesn't care for the food.

That is awesome... So glad to hear it and congratulations to your DD.
I would welcome your private feedback on what we could have done better. I have an outstanding student and I am crushed his opportunity to go to Notre Dame is going to be removed because we can't afford it without the ROTC help. I think the AF needs to do better. Expecially for families that already have service members in the AF. He did everything right and they let him down.

And he is also Mensa, went all through HS with out a single final grade other than an A. Never had a problem his entire life. AF doesn't think he qualifies. What exactly qualifies if a 1560 / 98.6 at the top ranked HS in the country (High Technology HS) does't mean you did enough?

2 sport varsity. Applying for a patent. Started a program for young kids at the library. Volunteers at a museum. What exactly did he miss that the AF wants?
there are not more highly qualified candidates than my son. He is the most qualified and didn't get a scholarship. The data shows that. Very few all over the world that do 1560 SAT in a pandemic and 98.6 GPA at a top rated high school while taking multi variable calculus. You just can't say there are higher qualified. Maybe one or two. Not who they let in while passing. Facts.

The Air Force doesn't want just perfect students. They want a diverse officer corps meaning they must accept people who aren't perfect academically but instead fill different spots for them. If that means some students with excellent academics do not receive scholarships then that is what happens. That is all the Air Force's choice though.

The best is subjective. They don't just want all kids to be the best academically. If you are the best at sports or music or have some special circumstance with everything else mediocre you are still desirable.

I’m sure this is a difficult time for your son. I’m sure he is disappointed and upset. Be there for him. Be supportive. If he doesn’t want to talk give him some space, but let him know you are there to help. However, I would caution you against blaming the system in front of him. Instead show him some ways he could improve his application for next time.
we don't really have a plan b for my son. we have another son in AFROTC at Yale and thought we had done everything to make plan A work. Now we are scrambling and shocked. blown away. he's accepted to Notre Dame but we don't think we can send him without help so we are crushed.
Hey for the West Point SLE what step are u on right now?

I'm sorry to hear that. Have you thought about doing AFROTC? I am going to Miami next year and I'm planning on joining the AFROTC detachment.
Hello Maddy16, I am in WA and AF Hopeful Dad. First of all Congratulations for your achievements and admission to AFA. Since you were first one to report from WA, just wondering if you have contacts with future cadets from WA with LOA for 2025 class. I wanted to find out if you know total number of acceptance from WA as of today. Thank you in advance for any guidance.
Hello USAFA Mama Bear, I am in WA and AF Hopeful Dad. First of all Congratulations for your sons achievements and admission to AFA. I been reading posts on forum since last November. I wanted to find out if you know total number of acceptance from WA as of today. Thank you for help.
Hi Mr. Mullen,

My DD just sent you an email on her waiver decision from DoDMERB or Admissions. Can you help suggest what other documentation we can provide?

Thanks!

In spite of the double tap, when I receive her email I'll reply to her. I don't use this page for any responses
